Thompson warns threat of mushroom cloud real
World Net Daily ^ | December 31, 2007

GOP presidential candidate Fred Thompson is warning the biggest threat facing America isn't economic or social or even political: It's the danger from nuclear terrorism.

"That the years ahead will be dangerous needs no elaboration from me," Thompson, a former U.S. senator from Tennessee, says in a new video prepared for Iowa voters who will caucus later this week.

"Most Americans know the forces of terrorism will not rest until a mushroom cloud hangs over one of our cities," he said.

Thompson, who is trailing several other candidates in Iowa, said those other issues, such as "economy, taxes, protecting our borders, and protecting the right to life," are important but are not the biggest concern this nation faces.

Rasmussen Reports, considered one of the most accurate polling services, says Arizona Sen. John McCain held support from 17 percent of likely Republican primary voters, former Massachussetts Gov. Mitt Romney and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee are at 16 percent, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani is at 15 percent and Thompson is at 12 percent heading into the new year.

Thompson's 17-minute video notes there is no "frontrunner," and the Iowa caucus "will be the first vote cast in this crucial election year."

He said the nation faces "dangerous years ahead."

If I were Mike Huckabee, I'd mention foreign affairs and national defense as litle as I could.

RINO John McCain at 17%?? Dear God! Have people forgotten the gang of 14? Shamnesty? Waterboarding is torture? Character matters but so do resumes!

I would rather vote for a Democrat than that....more government involvement...amnesty pushing... foreign affairs ignorant......Bush bashing....high taxing....parole giving...credential lying.....preacher hick from Arkansas. That’s about it (sure I missed something)

Karl Rove might be right when he said to get ready for a Democratic era in the White House. A vote for Huckabee is a vote for a Democrat, no matter which party wins.

I’ll never vote for anyone other than a true conservative. This quasi/semi conservative crap just don’t get it. True Conservative or nothing for me.

The republican party will be no more if a liberal is nominated, and I’ll be glad. Maybe a new party will grow from the ashes that will be 100% conservative.

SEN. JOHN McCAIN'S

AMNESTY BILL FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS

Recently, John McCain did what may be unfairly called a flip-flop and admitted the American public was opposed to amnesty and withdrew his support of it reluctantly perhaps to save his campaign for President

Senator John McCain who possesses many fine qualities not the least of which is service to country in uniform and incredible suffering in defense of this nation,  supported amnesty in the form of legislation defeated in Congress last summer largely in part because of the massive outrage expressed by citizens that is credited for rendering the Congressional phone system inoperative during the session.    .

The illegal alien problem is the fault of the US government. It created the problem by refusing to fund adequate border security. It has ignored the Constitution and has not followed existing law.

McCain held hands with the liberal Senator Edward Kennedy, (D-Ma)
in support of illegal immigration less than a year ago .  Now he's flip flopped.

What are we to believe?
If he's elected will he change his mind again?

Have people forgotten the gang of 14? Shamnesty? Waterboarding is torture?

Most people unfortunately have no clue about those things.

Giuliani  = Liberal

Has our Party gone the way of the dinosaurs?
Have we lost our values?

If we elect a man who supports gay rights and is pro-choice, we can no longer call ourselves conservative.  Have we sunk so low that we would elect a person who dresses in drag?  Marches in gay pride parades?   Giuliani is a liberal running as a conservative.  He's pro-amnesty, pro-gun control, and pro-gay.  He is intelligent and has governed New York City successfully, BUT he is not a true conservative by any measure.  Conservatives wake up?
God help us if we elect a liberal
.

What kind of "character" did it require to be involved in the Keating Five scandal? The democrats have enough dirt on McCain to win in a landslide! Using Hillary & Bill's scandals against her will be painted as misogynistic.

The current sub-prime crisis will make the Keating 5 scandal relevant in the election. McCain should get over himself and just fade away. He gave it his best shot in 2000 and lost.

They will not rest even then. Apparently they are now of the belief that nuclear detonations are described and approved in the Koran.

I’m a Thompson/Hunter supporter but I have the god awful feeling (and I pray daily that I’m wrong) that we will either get an out and out Marxist (demonrat) or a RINO (repub) this next presidency and it will continue (how I pray NOT) for the next several decades.

Of course they are. Come on now, we are only asking their men to roll over and give up their unquestioned dominance over society. Last time we tried this, the enemy got fairly defensive and desperate. Talking about Shinto Japan. We can certainly expect them to give it their best shot. Let me ask you this. With WMD’s what would Geronimo have done? Montezuma? It is what it is.

I’m a Duncan Hunter guy, but this statement by Fred finds strong resonance with me.

It’s the bottom line, fantasies of free aspirin aside.

Relax, the GOP has no interest in taking the responsibility for a McCain Presidency muchless the sleepless nights that would come during the general praying he doesn't lose it on the stump.

Is there any real difference anymore between demonrats and repubs? With the exception of Thompson and Hunter it doesn’t seem like it.

I listened to the audio of Fred's talk this AM and I was impressed.

I get why the MSM keeps Fred out of the news.

Thompson/Hunter, that's what America needs.
