Air America does not disparage our troops
Daily Herald - IL ^ | 12/31/2007 | Greg Newlin

Posted on 12/31/2007 7:17:48 AM PST by rface

I am a regular listener of Air America, and have never heard anyone disparage the troops.

Randi Rhodes, the popular daytime host, is a veteran of the Air Force and has actively lobbied for body armor and adequate supplies to protect our troops. Former and active duty members of the military frequently call into her show.

Al Franken, former morning host and current candidate for the U.S. Senate, has traveled to Iraq and Afghanistan numerous times during the past several years as part of the USO tour entertaining the troops over the holidays. He has become so overwhelmed with emotion when speaking about the brave troops he has met and befriended over the years, many who have died, that he frequently cannot physically complete scheduled public speaking engagements.

Has Air America gone after George Bush, Dick Cheney, and the neo-conservative architects of our disastrous foreign policy? Absolutely! Bill Clinton is not a convicted draft dodger or perjurer. As hard as they tried to back on Dec. 19, 1998, Senate Republicans failed to garner enough support to achieve the two-thirds majority required for his conviction. Yes, he lied about a foolish affair with a young intern, but this now seems inconsequential when compared to the lies of the Bush administration and the terrible price our country is currently paying.

Yes, Bill Clinton did not serve in Vietnam, but neither did George Bush (Texas Air National Guard … sometimes), Dick Cheney (five deferments and "other priorities"), or Rush Limbaugh (deferred due to a cyst on his posterior).

I do not personally know anyone, liberal or conservative, who does not support our brave men and women in the military.

If you attack the mission, you attack the troops.

I don't know about that, now. By that logic, Republicans were attacking our troops in Bosnia, Macedonia and Somalia in the '90s.

Al Franken [SNIP] has become so overwhelmed with emotion [SNIP] that he frequently cannot physically complete scheduled public speaking engagements

Time to send Mr. Franken some paper sandwich-sized bags, with the following instructions;

1. Open Bag.

2. Place open part of bag over mouth.

3. Breathe in.

4. Breathe out.

5. Repeat steps 4 and 5 as needed.

Some things need to be cleared up. Yes Cheney had five deferments, but in the 60s a student deferment had to be reaaplied for each school year. A student who was full time would have applied for four separate deferments in four years of school. So the claim of five deferments is technically true but of absolutely no particular uniqueness.

As one who suffers from a pilonidal cyst they are, when inflamed truly debilitating. They were a more immediate reason for 1Y deferment than high blood pressure because even with surgery ther was and is no certainty of preventing reoccurrence.

One difference betwen Bush, Limbaugh, Cheney, and Clinton. None of the first three sought and received an ROTC deferment AFTER they had been called for induction,as Clinton did in joing U of Ark's ROTC when he enrolled in Law School after returning from Oxford. He then lft the program when his draft number precluded any future call up.

“Randi Rhodes, the popular daytime host”

By whose standards?

Jack Daniels.
Jim Beam.
Johnny Walker.
Old Grandad.

Maybe, but I honestly expected something a bit meatier than this "puff, puff, pass" editorial. Something like: AIR AMERICA DOESN'T DISPARAGE OUR TROOPS... they flat out support our enemies. Followed by some sort of real journalism.

First -it is HOSTESS-

Second, Al Franken has admited to, and I Believe
has said he still uses illegal drugs-if he cannot
finish speaking -I know why-

Third, Clinton was convicted of pejury-Fined -Disbarred-
You need a super majority in the senate to remove him from
office-

Last, anyone who listens to Randi’s rant, and like’s the
foul mouth- unAmerican - hateful speech- is a loser-
with no civility left in their own life.

...So now that all their vile attempts to spread disaffection and sow demoralization have failed miserably, and their treachery is being brought into ever sharper focus with every victory...*now* they are patriots..who have always supported the troops....(Spit!)

Some people are so dumb they don’t know they are dumb.

Air America is the most depressing radio I have ever heard. After minutes of listening you would think that the US was one or 2 minutes from collapse. Once every few months I tune in to see if it is still on the air. A few days ago I got dead air. I thought that it finally was off the air. It turned out to be just poor program engineering. The dead air was a screw up and the host came back on after about 45 seconds. I will check back sometime in March to see if it is still on.

Air America dispareges the troop's mission, which all of them have volunteered for. Therefore, they disparage the troops and their moral in accomplishing that mission.

As to Bush and Cheney's "disastorous foreign policy". What a crock.

It is so disasterous that fifty million people, who had been under abject dictatorships, are now free and voting themselves for their own governments. It is so disasterous that the principle sponsor of state terrorism and exporter thereof is now surrounded on all sides and facing the consequences of their actsions (if we are willing to hold them accountable). It is so disasterous that the enemy, radical Islam, has been sucked into a classic fly-trap where tens off thosuands of them are being killed, and...

THEY CANNOT, THEY HAVE NOT, BEEN ABLE TO ATTACK US HERE ON OUR SHORES SINCE.

I call those accomplishments very, very good...and consider that part of this administrations actions GREAT foreign policy.

Sure, those who hate our system and want to see it fall (which includes most of the left) hate it...their plans have been set back. But the rest of the world is taking note and will not soon forget the clear lessons.

I do not personally know anyone, liberal or conservative, who does not support our brave men and women in the military.

Jon Carey really supports their stupid asses even though they didn't do well in school and got stuck in Iraq.

Oh, and Murtha supports them even though they are murderers and rapists.

Saying stuff like, “I support the troops but not the war” is akin to saying “I believe in Christianity but not in Christ”.

I think it’s pretty clear that negative comments from Air America and others about our leadership (Bush lied, Bush and Cheney are war criminals, etc.) are so vile that they are used to inflame and incite our enemies. Those enemies KILL our soldiers. With our own people fanning the flames of our enemies they ARE responsible for the deaths of many of our soldiers! There is no argument against that. You can dissent from a policy without causing harm to our troops...unfortunately, the leaders of the democratic party and Air America don’t engage in that. They are bomb throwers and those bombs kill our troops...that is a sad fact.

One of about 13 who listen to Air America.

As such, it's hard to dispute what goes on the air on AAR.

The few times I listened, they had an intern still asleep in Kali covering Reagan's funeral, and I heard Randi Rhodes trashing C.Rice during one of the farces that passes for a committee hearing in the "World's Greatest Deliberate Body".

Well I am sure they've never said anything bad about their troops at all... the ones who serve in the Taliban in Pakistan and Afghanistan, as well as Al Qaeda in Iraq.
