Many of Huckabee's responses made him sound like 'poor widdle me' and whiney. That made him less appealing as a potential presidential figure.

I’m sick of all the hot air already and it isn’t even 2008 yet! We’ve got 10 more months of this to go. Is it me or does it feel like this campaign has been lasting forever already? There’s the barrage of conflicting polls too, that never seems to end. After hearing endlessly from these candidates I think some people are going to wish President Bush could run again.

From accounts I've read, Huck was Mr. Nice Guy as long as you were 100% on his side, but woe unto you if you disagreed with him. Clearly, Huck's competitors have picked up on that, and used it.
