Hunter isn’t even a blip on the radar, so I honestly don’t know why he’d give up what’s probably a safe congressional seat.
I can see reasons and don’t fault anyone for wanting to leave the gov’t payroll. He’s got a good retirement with health benefits so why not move on? More power to him and I wish him well in whatever line of work he gets into after he leaves congress.
Isn´t he the namesake, I mean isn´t his name also Dunkcan Hunter? Many propably won´t even notice the little D. in the middle...
Does the senior have any change, now that he has raised his profile somewhat in the presidential race to get into a higher office, like a senator or governor or something like that?
I hope Duncan winds up on the ticket as Veep (especiallly with Thompson in the top slot).
Best wishes to a worthy war hero.
Can’t imagine him NOT winning his dad’s congressional seat.

According to Intrade, the winner of the December 12th GOP debate was... Duncan Hunter.

In this poll Hunter is up 3% and even with Paul and Thompson.

Good luck to Duncan D. Hunter! The more I hear from that family, the more I like them.
Agreed
If you are so curious about what he would do without the name; go ask him yourself instead of trying to make some jackass remark here on FR?

Patriot Post endorsement of Duncan Hunter - The Class of Reagan
[snip]A veteran of the 1980 congressional “Class of Reagan,” Duncan Hunter is a standout worthy of serious consideration by conservative voters, not only because of his aforementioned qualifications, but because one has to spend only a minute with him to know what achievement he counts above all others — his 33 years of marriage to his wife, Lynne, and the two sons and four grandchildren that are the product of that marriage. Duncan is a family man above all.
If you feel bloodelines are a sign of good leadership ability, why not just push to get rid of elections and just let us have a royal family?
Actually, with sons (and daughters) taking a spot once held by a parent I would say they are more successful then not. Which is a shame. Now as far as siblings go, the only good thing about President Bush’s sagging poll numbers and his stance on immigration is that it has pretty much insured we will never have to endure Jeb Bush in the White House....Ever.
Oh....so you DO think that family name and bloodline entitles one to public office. But hey I can understand it, when you cannot come up with an answer, resort to name calloing. Works for the left all the time.
Why don’t you just take a long walk off a short pier?
You have no idea what I think and I am not going to explain anything to someone that post idiotic posts.
I will stand by statement regarding people who only know to call others names. Keep on reinforcing it. Yeah, I don’t know what you think. Only that you are not demonstrating much of an ability to do so. Got more witty names and insults?
Then you are standing on false ground because your statement is false.
Republicans seem to be lacking lately in getting vets to run. The Hunter family is a great example of patriotism and duty to country. Our country should be so fortunate to have more like the Hunters serving in government.
Yeah, and those bloodlines include SERVING HIS COUNTRY IN IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN. HE HAS EVERY RIGHT AS HE HAS FOUGHT FOR THIS COUNTRY SO SHUT UP. And that’s what elections are for, didn’t ya know??!! Not polls, ELECTIONS. There are no coronations.
Of course you do. Fred cannot win a general election on his own. People will want the VP to be President, not him!
Let’s be realistic. Duncan has zilch chance at the top of the ticket (although I may wish otherwise). Thompson is surging and is electable. There is a marked difference in personalities between the two, but, in the matters that count, their views are virtually identical.
