Accused killer: "I'm sorry they're gone"(Christmas murders in Washington)
Seattle Times ^ | December 29, 2007 | By Sara Jean Green

Within hours of learning he could face the death penalty if he's found guilty of killing three generations of the same family on Christmas Eve, Joseph McEnroe said Friday he has new respect for life.

"You never really realize what life is worth until something like this happens," he said.

During a 15-minute interview at the King County Jail, McEnroe said he's sorry six members of the Anderson family are dead and that he regretted cutting contact with his own family.

Dressed in a white jumpsuit reserved for "ultra-security" inmates, McEnroe wouldn't talk about what happened Christmas Eve at a rural home near Carnation. There, police and prosecutors allege, he and his girlfriend, Michele Anderson, methodically shot Anderson's parents and brother, the brother's wife and their two young children.

"I'm sorry that they're gone. They were my family, too, you know?" McEnroe, 29, said of the victims. "I hope wherever they're at, they're at peace. That's all I'm going to say about them."

McEnroe and Anderson each were charged earlier Friday with six counts of aggravated first-degree murder in the Anderson family slayings.

With his hands chained to his waist, McEnroe had to hunch and sit sideways to talk through a phone in the visiting booth, where a thick window separates inmates and visitors. Tall and slim with a goatee and shoulder-length dark hair, McEnroe spoke softly. At times, his eyes appeared misty.

McEnroe said jail officials have placed him on suicide watch: "I was having a very hard time, but no matter how this turns out, I'm going to try and hold on... I decided I'm going to try and stay alive."

He asked about his family — his mother and siblings in Minneapolis and an aunt and cousins in California. McEnroe stopped talking to them five years ago...

>>Murderers often speak about their victims in the passive voice. It’s fascinating.<<

How true! In the case at hand, the perpetrator may be expressing himself cautiously for legitimate courtroom tactical reasons, but you’re right: Even confessed murderers, child abusers, etc. seem psychologically unable to use the Active Voice (”...I regret the horrible circumstances which led up to this tragic event happening...”).

As W.C. Fields said: “You cannot carve a man out of a banana.”

These people have probably never accepted responsibility for a single act in their lives.

Regards,

Was this a home-invasion robbery?

No, he and his girlfriend killed her family—parents, brother, SIL, and two little kids.

Ok, forget the movie. Why did they kill her family? Did they say?

Wasn’t a robbery at all. The daughter (one of the shooters) was PO’d that she had been cut out of the will. She WAS cut out of the will, but maybe her real motivation was her drug use or whatever.

If The STATE OF WASHINGTON defers, any more than is reasonably prudent, a very ardent prosecution and potential conviction and disposition of this case, then we can ALL assume that the “STATE OF WASHINGTON” is a fraudulent entity.

Check out the writing of Theodore Dalrymple for a real good read on this topic. He was a prison psychiatrist in England for a number of years and comments on that very fact frequently.

It ain’t no damned movie.

It’s a woman who delivered mail. Her Husband who was an engineer for Boeing.
Waiting for their son and his family to come and celebrate Christmas eve.

Then, they were murdered. A bit later, the son was murdered. His wife, who had already been shot tried to call 911, and she was shot in the head. The shooter, the creep boyfriend, moved on to the kids, and told them both he was sorry before he shot them in the head.

Sounds like you guys watch way too many gdamn movies. This ain’t no 3 dollar ticket at the local Cinema 6.

They don’t know for sure. Daughter said she was tired of being stepped on. Family was asking her to pay rent. Brother supposedly owed her some money from prior and didn’t pay her back. All minor stuff. Sounds like she was some psychotic, demonic toon (possibly on drugs) and got her equally psycho demon boyfriend to help her out with taking out the family. Boyfriend said they killed SIL and kids because they didn’t want to have any witnesses. She wasn’t up to killing her 6 year old niece and 3 year old nephew so boyfriend shot them in the head.

Oh. Then if somebody owes me money, I can just go kill them.

That’s what you are saying. Admit it.

Have pity on the poor orphan..

One example given of the ultimate of chutzpah is: "A boy, having just been convicted of murdering his parents, begs the judge for leniency because he is an orphan."

Unless I have misquoted you, or misrepresented your opinions, then you have no credibility whatsoever.

Perhaps having sympathy for a family MURDERED IN COLD BLOOD ON CHRISTMAS EVE is equivalent to “going off the deep end”.

If so, it’s a sorry-ass world we live in.

I going to try and remain calm, but you have no credibility with me right now! Perhaps you should re-read this thread when you are less tired.
