Mexican army disarms police in town near US border

TIJUANA, Mexico, Dec 28 (Reuters) - Mexican troops disarmed the entire police force of a town near the U.S. border on Friday after a failed attempt to kill the police chief raised suspicions it was infiltrated by drug traffickers.

Troops and police from the state of Baja California took over the beach resort town of Rosarito, just south of the sprawling border city of Tijuana, near San Diego, California.

The force's 200 guns will be checked to see if any were used in the mid-December attack on Rosarito's chief of police in which one of his bodyguards died.

"We recognize that the enemy is inside our house and for this reason we are purging the ranks," Baja California state police chief Daniel de la Rosa told reporters. "We need to have confidence in our police."

Since taking office in December 2006, Mexican President Felipe Calderon has sent some 25,000 troops to bring order to areas where drug gangs are strong, such as along the U.S.-Mexico border and in the western state of Michoacan.

Despite these actions, about 2,500 people have died so far this year in turf wars among different drug gangs.

In January, troops disarmed the police in the city of Tijuana in a similar drug-related purge. (Reporting by Lizbeth Diaz; writing by Chris Aspin; editing by Eric Walsh)

I live in San Diego and this is typical of what has been going on in Tijuana right along.
Murders, kidnapings, beheadings, you name it.

Also what they do to Americans who are stupid enough to go there. Rape, murder, robbery, etc.

They bring their gangs, drugs, and various crime here.
Besides the illegals, some may now get a clue why we need
Duncan Hunter and also his fence to be continued.

Thanks to Kay Bailey Hutch. who helped vote away the money to finish it along with others who think it a joke.

Are there seriously any Americans who venture into Tijuana for anything other than to buy drugs or cheap liquor?

I can’t imagine there’s any tourism or anything that would be a magnet for American to go there.

Tijuana is a mixed bag. It has wealthy millionaires, and all that goes with it to dirt poor in card board shacks.
Donald Trump is building highrise condos just to the south of TJ

Thousands of Americans cross daily especially out of state tourists.

Most in TJ are dirt poor as they arn’t interested in education.
In the U.S. Mexicans have the highest dropout rate and lowest per cent in college.

The main San Diego - Tijuana border crossing is 24 lanes of traffic, all backed up for usually 90+ min. wait crossing.

It is the largest and busiest border crossing in the world.

They are also building high rise condos in TJ just near the border overlooking the shacks.

Over 50,000 Mexicans marched here in San Diego last yr.
with their signs, gringo go back to Europe - this is our country and various Marxist signs and their flag all over.

San Diego has a pop. of 3 million and TJ 1 million and no little problem.
WE also have illegals that come up from Central America.

It cost San Diego tens of millions of dollars a yr. supporting the illegals and around 50 million a yr. due to their crimes.

The biggest crime is DC not letting Duncan Hunter’s fence continue on east as it was passed in Congress and now sunk.
