Vermont town seeks Bush, Cheney arrests

By DAVE GRAM, Associated Press Writer 6 minutes ago

President Bush may soon have a new reason to avoid left-leaning Vermont: In one town, activists want him subject to arrest for war crimes.

A group in Brattleboro is petitioning to put an item on a town meeting agenda in March that would make Bush and Vice President Cheney subject to arrest and indictment if they visit the southeastern Vermont community.

"This petition is as radical as the Declaration of Independence, and it draws on that tradition in claiming a universal jurisdiction when governments fail to do what they're supposed to do," said Kurt Daims, 54, a retired machinist leading the drive.

As president, Bush has visited every state except Vermont.

The town meeting, an annual exercise in which residents gather to vote on everything from fire department budgets to municipal policy, requires about 1,000 signatures to place a binding item on the agenda.

The measure asks: "Shall the Selectboard instruct the Town Attorney to draft indictments against President Bush and Vice President Cheney for crimes against our Constitution, and publish said indictment for consideration by other municipalities?"

The White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment Friday. The press office did not immediately respond to an e-mail.

Support for the measure is far from universal, even in Vermont, where the state Senate voted earlier this year to support impeaching the president. Anti-war rallies are regular occurrences here, and "Impeach Bush" bumper stickers are common.

Tie dye never died in Vermont, especially in that black hole of socialism, Brattleboro.

What was once a thriving industrial town, set in a geographically beautiful area, is now defiled with burned out NY, NJ, and CT moonbats who sought 'refuge' from civilization.

It reeks of patchouli, the food is organic, and the woman are harrier than I am.

It sounds then like the Tribal Regions of Pakistan, Guns, limited population, lovely mountain vistas and no compelling reason to exist.

Isn't Vermont the legacy of the traitor Benedict Arnold?

Brattleboro is recently famous for having people walk around main street street because they didn’t have a law prohibiting it. KOOKSVILLE!

A little while ago, there was a movement to have Vermont secede from the union. Too bad it fizzled. I had visions of a second Sherman march.

Why waste the money. Let them go. Subtract two Senators and the Republicans would re-gain control of the Senate. Cut off all federal money. Do you really think that Vermont would qualify for foreign aid.

I wondered about that as well, retired at 54 with way to much time on his hands.

> [Vermont is] the only state in the Union where I can walk out of a gunshop with my new pistol and conceal it without a permit. And that’s in the state constitution. <

That USED TO BE the case. But the "no permit category" was joined by Alaska a few years ago.

Still, I say it's nothing short of remarkable that the Peoples Socialist Republic of Vermont is virtually free of gun laws (except for those imposed by the Feds). Go figure!

I’m referring to this secession movement.

In Vermont, nascent secession movement gains traction

By John Curran, Associated Press Writer | June 3, 2007

MONTPELIER, Vt. —At Riverwalk Records, the all-vinyl record store just down the street from the state Capitol, the black “US Out of Vt.!” T-shirts are among the hottest sellers.

But to some people in Vermont, the idea is bigger than a $20 novelty. They want Vermont to secede from the United States — peacefully, of course.

Your gun might not be registered, but as a conservative do you have to wear an GPS ankle bracelet?

Lol. It’s hard to put a GPS on an armed citizen. Also, my folks live there, not me. I lived there for just a little while.

“Yes it is.”

Touche, but you have left yourself wide open for my “nyuh-uh!” retort.

I haven’t found any of your description of Vermonters to be at all accurate. You seem to have a lot of pent up anger towards the state. You have also failed to list any facts or evidence to support your claims.

Past time you local ass clowns on various city council in wacko Leftist hatevilles around the country try sticking to your jobs and quit abusing your position to spew absurdly ignorant, incredibly stupid partisan propaganda.”

What’s a “Vermont”?

Vermont is a number rest areas (outhouses) on the road from New Hampshire to New York. The first stop is Brattleboro. If there was not a bridge across the Conn. River (between the town and New Hampshire) the Battleasses would not be able to the get to the Wal-Mart in New Hampshire, a store that they hardly allow in Vermont. Also, I believe Vermont is one of the few states that gets more Federal aid than they pay in taxes.

Send ‘em both to Vermont, with a Marine rifle company as escort. Lock and load. Don’t fire until you see their Birkenstocks.

Vermont is the asshole of the United States of America......................

Freepers, I beg for your sympathy here. My beloved nephew has just started his first year at the University of Vermont, has already begun to spout the slogans of left-wing dogma, and I can already see his path to misery.

I saw the signs early, in his sulking over parental attempts to instill self-discipline, his scoffing at all that they hold dear to them, all that led them to try to provide him with the best start they could possibly provide for him.

But now he will find the kind of relief he seeks (from his “oppression”). Understanding professors will kindly provide him with a “philosophy” to justify his anger. They will tell him that his (white) “daddy” is to blame for all the ills of the world, and that he could save the world by changing it, in favor of what is deemed as “progressive” (by others).

Thanks to public education, he has never learned to think, and therefore his chances of a meaningful life are slim.

I mourn for him.
