Really, it’s this guy’s most basic instincts that bother me. His instinct was to release convicted felons. His instinct was to reward illegal aliens. His instinct was to raise taxes — time and again. And now, his instinct is to apologize for Ms Bhutto’s assassination. He seems to have two basic instincts: (1) crack a joke, and (2) take the most bleeding-heart liberal action possible. Later, he’s rationalize his actions. But, first, he follows his leftwing instincts.
"Iraq may be the hot war, but Pakistan is where the cold, calculating planning is going on. If al Qaeda strikes us tomorrow, the attack will be postmarked "Pakistan." And the American people, not understanding why a supposed U.S. ally refused to help and our government put up with it, will justifiably be outraged that bin Laden and his top people got away. In fact, we almost did suffer that next attack: the plot to blow up ten airliners over the Atlantic that the British government foiled in 2006 was hatched in Pakistan, as was an attack against U.S. targets in Germany that was planned to coincide with the sixth anniversary of 9/11. Rather than wait for the next strike, I prefer to cut to the chase by going after al Qaeda's safe havens in Pakistan." - Mike Huckabee

Two inexperienced, naive rubes who had no business being President
I know, it seems that Huckabee basically expressing sympathies to the Pakastani people has brought out the neo grammar and syntax nazis in full bloom, and they knee jerkingly equate that to Jimmy Carter.
Thats what I’ve concluded as well.
I want somebody to ask him why he felt the need to ‘apologize’ for this.
Apologies are not condolences. Thats the wrong explanation. He's apologizing for Something. What do you think it is? Is it America's hateful "go-it-alone" policies that he was talking about the other day? America's "arrogance"?
Go to your sources and find out which. We await your response.
“Apologies” WTH?
Expect every leftard conspira-liar in the solar system to jump on this stupid slip as evidence of US complicity, with Huckleberry suddenly elevated from flyover opposition to whistle-blowing Hallibush insider.
Because the War on Terror is an important issue in the campaign. When Richardson says things like we must get rid of Musharraf and Huckabee apologizes for something that is clearly not America's fault, it tells me something about those candidates and some of the idiotic things they might do as President. I appreciate their statements and the opportunity to judge them by their words.
I bet he's sorry he posted this article. ;-)
"I'm sorry" can be an expression of regret, apology, or sympathy. It works perfectly well as you describe.
On the other hand, have you ever said, or would you ever say, "I apologize" in the same situation?
APOLOGIES!!?! WHAT THE HELL IS THAT? Huckleberry sounds like he's got "Blame America" syndrone...
Bzzzt. Your spin has earned you a piping hot cup of FAIL.
Just what we don’t need -— 4 years of Carter-ite type administration.
Huckabee seems clueless regarding international affairs.
Exactly, how many times have you had a co-worker or acquatance state that he or she lost a family member and your initial reaction is to say, "I'm sotty for your loss".
But what the hey the anti-Huckabee people(Rush, Queen Ann Coulter, etc) are so desperate against Huckabee, they will latch on to anything.
I apologize...
Now THAT would have been an appropriate use of the word.
WTF?!!
"Regrets" are not "apologies". Neither are "sympathies" or "condolences".
If this guy doesent know how to say what he means in a situation like this, he ought to go back to Mayberry , RFD and shut up.
If someone has just died, saying “I’m sorry” is a polite offer of sympathy and condolence.
“I apologize” is a confession.
I know the grammar nazis on this thread will latch on to that typo.
