Say what you will about the looming catastrophe facing the world as the pace of global heating and polar melting accelerates. There is a silver lining.
Look at a map of the US. The area that will by completely inundated by the rising oceanand not in a century but in the lifetime of my two catsare the American southeast, including the most populated area of Texas, almost all of Florida, most of Louisiana, and half of Alabama and Mississippi, as well as goodly portions of eastern Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina. While the northeast will also see some coastal flooding, its geography is such that that aside from a few projecting sandbars like Long Island and Cape Cod, the land rises fairly quickly to well above sea level. Sure, Boston, New York and Philadelphia will be threatened, but these are geographically confined areas that could lend themselves to protection by Dutch-style dikes. The West Coast too tends to rise rapidly to well above sea level in most places. Only down in Southern California towards the San Diego area is the ground closer to sea level.

Lets say the author is right. Fellow conservatives in both the civilian and military needs to do everything they can to survive. I propose we attack and wipe out all the liberals on higher ground.
Any liberals reading this I urge to save themselves and move to Europe.
The link at the top says Baltimore Sun, but the actual site is something called the Baltimore Chronicle. I’ve never heard of such a publication, and I live in the Baltimore area and am a pretty rabid consumer of news. This must be sub-City Paper, which is pretty damned low.
Libs fantasize about killing off conservatives more often than sex, or to improve their sex life, fantasize about killing off conservatives during sex.
Exactly look at the difference between Mississippi and Louisiana.
But global warming prophets of doom need not dispair. Though Y2K didn't quite work out, and though countless calls, throughout the ages, for mankind to Repent! as the end of the world was at hand, have proved time and again that repentance is not really necessary inasmuch as the world hasn't yet come to an end--and hardly anybody has bothered to repent--nevertheless there's always the Mayan prophesy that the world will really, really come to an end--I mean it this time!--I really, really mean it, do you hear!?!!--in December 2012.
And anyway, 2012 will be here before Florida and Texas et al. can manage to get themselves flooded out of existence--so why bother to repent of the sins of global warming?
We might consider repenting of whatever's going to cause the end of the world in 2012, but, as Leonard Cohen has so sagely phrased it: "When they said: 'Repent! Repent!' I wondered what they meant."
If 2012 comes and goes without the end of the world, maybe we should consider repenting of the sins of global warming...
But...well...on the other hand...maybe not.
I'm sure that sooner or later one of these prophesies is going to come true, and the world's going to come to an end, but, there have been so many false alarms...I just can't get excited about repentance.
“The area that will by completely inundated by the rising oceanand not in a century but in the lifetime of my two cats”
I think this author should vow to never write another word unless that prediction comes true. ;-)
Nothing America will do (beyond our already aggressive approach to pollution control) will alter climate change. Much more of it is natural than maninfluenced, and further America’s contribution to greenhouse gases is a shrinking percentage of the total.
If this idiot really wanted to do something concrete about greenhouse gases, he should start advocating nuclear electric plant construction to replace fossil fuel plants. That’s a good idea anyhow.
The headline is correct. The purpose of global warming is to destroy democracy.
One wonders what Baltimorons will do, since the Chesapeake Bay runs right in the middle of town, and that Baltimore is as blue as blue can be.
My guess is that the conservatives will be able to find high ground, unlike so many in New Orleans and other bastions of urban liberalism.
If they truly believe their own BS, then why are they not moving away from coastal areas or building levees and dikes?
Hey Lindorff, here’s something for you to ponder. We Conservatives are the ones with the firearms. You don’t have to give us the key to your cities, we’ll take them from you.
So............I wonder what global cooling will do?

Say what you will, lefties. The two big mouths (Pelousy and Dirty Harry) said volumns before the 2006 elections. They got elected on what they said and haven't done much of anything. Maybe they're just hot air bags of wind. Do ya think? Could all that hot air be having a real effect on the climate in Congress? I sure hope so.
This is a strong contender for stupidest opinion piece/article ever!
LOL
My immediate thought as well.
They have to get to the Sea to form mating clusters, spawn and lay their eggs.
Should be the death of the liberals. Time for John Q. Public to get a good look at the cost of a mindless vote and blind support.
Your picture of Dave Lindorff matches to a tee what one would expect of a dork liberal. Has not had an original thought since prior to entering college. Drinks wine, nibbles on brie, talks about social justice & the enviroment and feels that he has put in a hard days work.
When a large newspaper would give space to this kind of hate filled dribble, you have to wonder just what does the liberal left really stand for. How can the common liberal justify thier stated stances of peace, love, freedom of ____ ( fill in the blank), tolerance, etc. It is time they all came out of the closet and stated once and for all that they are socialist (communist) and they hate anything that gets in the way of thier utopian dream.
the Chesapeake does not run through Baltimore City itself. Baltimore is built on the harbor of the Patapsco River esturary, an arm of the bay.
baltimore is very hilly, particularly to the north and west of the city center
