Fred Thompson "Surprise" Announcement today
Fred08.Com ^

Posted on 12/26/2007 7:55:28 AM PST by Onerom99

Rumor circulating on the Fred08 blog that there is going to be a major "surprise" announcement coming this morning.

Perhaps an NRA endorsement or a major political figure?

“And, I’m wondering what the heck Free Republic would do if Guiliani were the nominee?”

I notice no one has answered your question.

All Republican candidates except defeatist Ron Paul will make very good President

Naaa...don't buy that line of reasoning...for me..the number one issue is the WOT...my number two issue is my amount of taxes I have to pay...that pretty much narrows down my list of candidates......

I cannot speak for Free Republic, but as for myself I would continue to discuss and promote a Conservative agenda. This would include refraining from supporting him or any of the other three RINOs in their campaign.

What’s your opinion of McCain?

Erratic and borderline nut case. Similar to the Bogart character in the movie Caine Mutiny.

He's a conservative who left the reservation some time ago to suck up to the liberal MSM and therefore cannot be trusted.

But give him kudos for his strong support of the troops during the surge.

I place higher value on a candidate's character than where he stands on the issues.

This country needs statesmen not pandering politicians.

Thompson and Hunter are the only statesmen in the race.

Yep. The original post and topic of this thread—the “surprise” announcement, hinting knowingly at some major coup for the candidate—is Exhibit A on why any candidate’s biggest headache is “helpful” supporters. The competition or outright adversaries you can deal with; it’s well-meaning friends that’ll drive you nuts.

Uhhh...are you aware Fred has called his wife that term?

Nope.

But he did use that term to mock the MSM that had characterized Jeri in that way.

Context is everything.

You commenting style is interestingly void of content. You just pop off a lot. LOL!

Everyone was well meaning. Despite those who claim Fred has generated no excitement, he has. Most of us who follow his campaign are upbeat and hopeful and we really like our candidate. A little unbridled exuberance shows a faithful and committed base.

Looks more like Joe Don Baker in the movie "Walking Tall".

My list of candidates to Avoid:

McCain - the people are not his master

Romney - weak on leadership, indecisive at times, may change position tomorrow.

Giulianni - Mussolini type, will do radical things we’ll regret, and he’ll say it worked in NYC

Huckabee - His record speaks louder than what he’s saying now, he just seems like he’d spend taxpayer money like running water.

Hillary - Has more baggage than all candidates combined. She will keep the elites happy at our expense. She wants the White House for personal gain.

Edwards - Same problem as Romney, weak on leadership.

Richardson - Hillary ‘Yes Man’ and cover up artist for the Clintons.

All remaining candidates I’ll take a look at, right now first choice is Thompson, and like Hunter and Paul alot

Which of those four do you lean towards? Or will you dodge the question? There can be only one.

Of McCain, Romney, Guiliani or Huckabee?

Yikes.

Well, I will never vote for Rudy or Romney, so they're right out.

McCain versus Huckabee.... ugh. I guess McCain? Pass? No one knows.

Hopefully we won't get to the point of chosing between options like that.

I’m with you on that. There seems to be an awful lot of posts here on FR in recent times that aren’t very conservative. Or at least people seem easily persuaded to shed certain conservative ideals.

It’s very disheartening to me and I’m turning into a grouch over it. Sometimes FR just doesn’t seem to be the same as it used to.

And his business was????? A lawyer perhaps?? nuff said.
I retract nothing. Romney isn’t quality presidential material. He has too many ghosts in his closet.
