PLEASANTVILLE, Iowa In a small-town café here this afternoon, Sen. Barack Obama was asked a question that typically only circulates on the Internet.
As he sat down to have a slice of pie with a small group of potential voters, an elderly woman asked him about things she has heard about him being Muslim.
Of course, he is not. But Internet messages continue to suggest otherwise.
"I've always been a Christian," the Illinois Democrat responded. "I have never practiced [Islam]."

BINGO !
He never practiced.....
Muslims can LIE... but they won’t DENY.... Islam.
He IS the “Mecca Candidate”.
Unfortunately, his political views and experience don't warrant a vote.
Well if we get a Commissar Hillary, we don’t get Sharia. If we get a Commissar Obama, we get Sharia.
Nah, you’re worrying about the wrong thing...you’ll get Socialism either way.
Why on Earth would you care what they think of your president? If this was 2000 and you knew the Muslim world would do all they could to kill George, would that make you less likely to vote for Bush? Vote - or vote against somesone because of their polivcies, not because of the opinions of a group you're at war with.
“Can somebody just ask him flat-out if hes ever recited the shahada? Yes or no, Barack?”
...Conversely, I would like to hear him answer the question, “Have you been baptized?”
Reciting the shahada is the mark of becoming a Muslim, and being baptized is the singular mark of converting to the Christian faith.
His political stands and lack of experience are of more importance to me. However, since youve brought up a good question, it would be interesting to hear an honest answer from him.
Clinton Trained ;-)
B.O. is telling the truth when he states he rejected being an overt muslim when he decided he should lead the masses from a public office. Actions and historical facts always trump political statements excepting when you are a dumorat and a member of the stuck-on-stupid crowd.
He IS the Mecca Candidate.
Deception is part of Islam and is so stated in the Quran.
Interesting possible Taqiyya.
Hussein just answered with "I have never practiced", and left the reporter to fill in "Islam". He could have been thinking "I have never practiced Christianity, you infidel fools"
The real issue, as is classic with a politician, Obama never makes his religion clear. I'm not even sure his pastor would give a real answer to the question, "Are you a Christian, and if so, what does that mean?"
From what I have read, Obama attends a black nationalist Church, which seems to have more in common in its beliefs with the Nation of Islam than traditional Christianity.
I'm convinced that Obama is not a Christian, because he does not even know what the word really means.
Who gives a flying rip what the islamic terrorist world thinks of our president? All that counts is if that pres has the will and ability to defeat them. Obama has neither, and that's all that matters.
If he "converted", then what "was" he before the conversion? It is quite clear he was a Muslim, and that if elected, there is a strong likelihood he would re-convert to Islam.
Muslims also believe in Al-Taqiya, or deceiving the Infidels of your true aims and intentions, even if this means a false conversion to Christianity in order to gain power and then reveal your true design.
Of course, it is possible to leave Islam and convert to Christianity, but for Obama to claim he "never practiced" Islam is completely false.
Assuming a conversion. The Koran sanctions, even mandates, deviousness if it is to the benefit of Islam.
I don’t believe he would ever openly avow Islam. It would be counterproductive. He could accomplish a lot more for Islam and/or the Arabs as a perceived Christian. If he is actually Moslem, and gets elected I would expect him to make an overt show of going to a Christian church every Sunday and carry a big Bible just like the Clintons.
I just want to hear him say it on television, followed up by the question "so when/where were you baptized?"
