In Mississippi, seniors don’t have to pay property taxes.

They could sell their house in Yankee land, buy a bigger house on the Gulf Coast, and pay lower or no property taxes.
To: 2ndDivisionVet
They don’t have to in Alabama either, just have to file for a tax exemption every year. This is a disgrace making a 76 year old Lady ‘work’. They should be ashamed. :(

That poor lady..Her house is in Westchester County where property taxes are among the highest in NY State and she pays $12,000 a year in taxes..She has a reverse mortgage too—probably to help pay the taxes..If she works she gets $7 an hour...At that rate and with that annual tax bill, she would hardly be able to really retire...NY State almost sounds eager to get (experiences) seniors out to the schools, libraries, social centers, etc to get them to work, saying it’s for their own good...actually, it’s slave labor-with a wage....

And worry about getting wiped out in a hurricane. My mother’s room mate in a nursing home here in Washington state, was a woman medivacuated from south Louisiana (by her loving sons) before Katrina hit.

Davison, who suffers from arthritis and sciatica and needs a walker to get around on her bad days, said she pays about $12,000 a year in property taxes -- perhaps $2,000 to the town -- and has already taken out a reverse mortgage to pay her bills. Wonder how much of that goes to pay the generous retirements of government workers?

JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER LIBERAL GOVERNMENT SCHEME.
Think any of these seniors will be hugging a Democrat Presidential candidate at a campaign rally? Remember the lady hugging Al Gore who had to collect aluminum cans to pay for her drugs? You know, the one with the Millionaire son?

Illegals running up taxes is what’s happening where I live. I guess it’s going on all over. But, I remember reading, it may have been on FR, about New York City police officers retiring at close to 200 thousand a year. It all adds up. It probably does not bother them that old people, making less than nine thousand a year, have to go back to work to pay their pension. I know those making money off illegals don’t care that they pass the cost to the rest of us.
