It never ceases to amaze me how a person who has decided to support a candidate all too often arrives at a point where FACTS are meaningless to them. Such is true with those who support this Romney character. There has been one example after another that proves that Mitt Romney isn't even a Republican much less a conservative and that he has repeatedly lied about his positions. Yet, well meaning Republicans still support this flip-flopping liar. Here is yet another article that shows that Mitt Romney is the single worse candidate the GOP field has today.
David Lightman of the McClatchy Newspaper chain asks this question: Exactly how Reaganesque is Romney? And the answer is a decided NOT AT ALL.
A few excerpts of this article:
"I take inspiration from the strength Ronald Reagan talked about," Romney said. "It was his view that the right way to overcome challenges was for the country to strengthen itself."And...Yet Romney wasn't always such a Reagan fan.
In 1994, when he ran for the U.S. Senate in Massachusetts, he said, "I was an independent during the time of Reagan-Bush. I'm not trying to return to Reagan-Bush."
Romney spent years in the state registered as "unenrolled," or unaffiliated with a political party, and in 1992 he voted for former Sen. Paul Tsongas, a liberal Democrat, in the Massachusetts Democratic presidential primary.And...
Romney replied: "Look, I was an independent during the time of Reagan-Bush. I'm not trying to return to Reagan-Bush. My positions don't talk about the things you suggest they talk about. This isn't a political issue."Romney has lied about being a hunter, he has lied about his not supporting the baby killers at Planned Parenthood, he even lied about his father marching with Martin Luther King, Jr. He led as Governor of Massachusetts as a center left executive yet now claims that he is a conservative.
Yet, all these flip-flops, all these lies and his supporters stick their fingers in their ears and scream "LA LA LA" at the top of their voices. So, here is the thing. Romney is not Reagan, he is far more like Clinton. Because during the first Clinton run lie after lie was revealed and his supporters simply refused to take stock of their man. They voted for him despite the lies, the rapes, all his past troubles were ignored.
Mitt Romney is Bill Clinton without the sex crimes.
False.
I attack Willard's lies, his supporters attack me personally (or anyone else similarly critical).
Maybe if you stopped posting lies, you wouldn’t get attacked.
The premise of your suggestion is false.
I’m just saying that it would appear to me that all the rules were broken when the original poster started this thread. The title of the article was changed, the poster listed himself as author. He mixed his own quotes with quotes from the article in the post of the post.
actually, it is often you who insults people who post facts,
rather than simply rebutting the facts, or posting your own.
And it wasn’t posted as a vanity.
Facts?....you must be kidding.
Get over it!
It’s only politics. As I said earlier, we will be magnanimous when Mitt wins. And, I’ve said elsewhere I’m committed to supporting Fred if he’s the candidate.
I guess I didn’t answer that exact question because I’m not sure it’s accurate.
If I had to make an argument why it might be true, the only thing I could come up with is that if Fred can’t get the conservatives right now, when he really has no argument from a conservative perspective, there must be something else that makes people not support him, and that won’t go away just because he gets the nomination.
Meanwhile, if Romney’s problem is the fear factor, that goes away after the nomination, since whatever you fear is less than the real danger of a liberal democrat.
But like I said, I imagine that if Fred COULD get the nomination, he’d pull us together well enough.
The only thing I worry about is whether we’d lose a good number of the evangelicals due to his position on faith and practice. But I don’t think he’d drive them to a 3rd party or anything, just that if a good number of evangelicals stayed home we’d lose.
He said he had the endorsement of the NRA for his actions as governor, when discussing the PBA bill, and the NRA did work with him and endorse his actions on that bill.
He also said he had their support running for governor, and he’s noted that it wasn’t an endorsement, but just some support like phone banks.
Fred Thompson has said he appreciates my support. I sent him money and got signatures for him. But I don’t endorse him, and I don’t think he’s wrong to say I support him.
And I endorse his social security plan. And if he said I endorsed his plan, I wouldn’t call him a liar, even though I don’t endorse him for President.
You should tread lightly, and follow the forum rules to the letter. Otherwise, I’ll have a lot fewer friends here to help defend Romney against false accusations. Some who were not so careful are not with us now, and longevity is not a protection.
This shouldn’t be a problem, while it’s easy to lapse into unkind responses, it is actually better for argument to keep to the facts.
Excellent post. I agree completely. The Repubs that wanted to do the right things,Tancredo,Humter, and King, had to fight the Dems and Bush.
Stupidest and most hateful post of the day and perhaps the year.
Shame on YOU for pretending to be a conservative. I think your pals at the Daily Koz are missing you.
Merry Christmas Malia :)
Merry Christmas!
And a Merry Christmas to all!
Merry Christmas :)
“You insult everyone with every post you make....obvious to anyone who reads these threads.”
What one person views as an insult another sees it as posting facts. Seems you just don’t like facts about your candidate do you? Since you are bothered by these facts about your candidate maybe you need to reconsider your support for him.
I would not count Fred out just yet...
