It never ceases to amaze me how a person who has decided to support a candidate all too often arrives at a point where FACTS are meaningless to them. Such is true with those who support this Romney character. There has been one example after another that proves that Mitt Romney isn't even a Republican much less a conservative and that he has repeatedly lied about his positions. Yet, well meaning Republicans still support this flip-flopping liar. Here is yet another article that shows that Mitt Romney is the single worse candidate the GOP field has today.
David Lightman of the McClatchy Newspaper chain asks this question: Exactly how Reaganesque is Romney? And the answer is a decided NOT AT ALL.
A few excerpts of this article:
"I take inspiration from the strength Ronald Reagan talked about," Romney said. "It was his view that the right way to overcome challenges was for the country to strengthen itself."And...Yet Romney wasn't always such a Reagan fan.
In 1994, when he ran for the U.S. Senate in Massachusetts, he said, "I was an independent during the time of Reagan-Bush. I'm not trying to return to Reagan-Bush."
Romney spent years in the state registered as "unenrolled," or unaffiliated with a political party, and in 1992 he voted for former Sen. Paul Tsongas, a liberal Democrat, in the Massachusetts Democratic presidential primary.And...
Romney replied: "Look, I was an independent during the time of Reagan-Bush. I'm not trying to return to Reagan-Bush. My positions don't talk about the things you suggest they talk about. This isn't a political issue."Romney has lied about being a hunter, he has lied about his not supporting the baby killers at Planned Parenthood, he even lied about his father marching with Martin Luther King, Jr. He led as Governor of Massachusetts as a center left executive yet now claims that he is a conservative.
Yet, all these flip-flops, all these lies and his supporters stick their fingers in their ears and scream "LA LA LA" at the top of their voices. So, here is the thing. Romney is not Reagan, he is far more like Clinton. Because during the first Clinton run lie after lie was revealed and his supporters simply refused to take stock of their man. They voted for him despite the lies, the rapes, all his past troubles were ignored.
Mitt Romney is Bill Clinton without the sex crimes.
sorry but thanks for the correction on the spelling of that word sociopath I made a mental note hopfully I will remember should I use it again!
I have to say though, that you didn't answer the exact question I asked. The poster said that of the two, if he got the nomination, Romney would be better able to pull all the conservatives together. You didn't say anything to change my mind that THAT simply isn't true.
True, most conservatives will (hopefully) "hold their noses" and vote for Romney in the general. But it's pretty clear to me that CONSERVATIVES won't be holding their nose nearly so much if FDT is the nominee.
Anyway, thanks for the reasoned response.
Hank
You’re certainly one.
I never professed to have great english skills or writing skills. I make a joke of it myself at times. I was a navy brat and went to three high schools and never had english composition. My reading comprehension and math abilities got me into The US Merchant Marine Academy, where I graduated in the top half on my class. It has served me well.
My great skills are one on one, unfortunately, we can't do that here.
You logic and political skills are a lot more suboptimal.
Don’t pay this shrinking man any mind!
No, you must register first, well before the primaries, to vote in the primary of whichever party. It’s not open at all, you must declare well in advance.
You can change after the primary, by re-registering, but that’s not usually done since the general election is open.
It’s not uncommon for people to re-register after the general election.
“He only got a hunting liscence twice in his life, “
When and where?
Physical threats now?
Wow.
Think it through. You don't want none of me.
Good one! :^)
I love it when you post the truth 10 times in a row and they come back with a totally irrevelant comment each time!
Sometimes it is fun toying with them! They post like children.
Let's see: in #203, you call me a brown shirt. In #204, you claim I have a lot of nerve to ping Jim to a claim of abuse.
That's just amazing.
I have such high respect for your research and writings, but I just don’t agree with you on Thompson.
I agree with you about the media in some respects, but their lack of interest or on the flip side their hype in a candidate has been like a roller coaster ride.
Also, I can not forget 2000 in Florida, MO, WA, and other states where voter fraud was proved, we fought that battle by ourselves where if it had been on the ‘other shoe’ I know the media would have been outraged!
I also think Duncan Hunter is fantastic!!!
Thank you for all the information you have brought to FreeRepublic!
All in good fun, Herr Petronski, all in good fun!
It’s difficult to respond to a post that makes no sense. When I asked for clarification, you became insulting. Oh well, I guess that’s the Prime Directive.
Come one people. The mods are not out to “get” Romney. All the candidates are attacked on FR, it’s how the website works.
You insult everyone with every post you make....obvious to anyone who reads these threads.
The Prime Directive of the Romney Sleaze Machine is to execute personal attacks against those who criticize Slick Willard.
I see you’re pulling your weight in that regard.
But I also note your man’s negatives are tied with Hillary at 47%. That’s a natural result of the Prime Directive.
