Iowa put Southern Televangelist Pat Robertson first in their straw poll in ‘87, and second in the ‘88 cauci - Christian Broadcasting Network’s Pat Robertson, the on-air, loud-prayer, faith healer! I haven’t cared much about Iowa’s Republicans' opinions since then.
