However, when you look beyond Paul’s slogans and demagoguery you see there really is nothing to Paul. He makes promises and pledges he knows full well he will never be able to keep. Add that to a clever speaking style when emotive slogans like “Constitution” and “traditional foreign policy” are shouted over and over in order to conceal Paul’s fundamental lack of any real understand of our system of Govt or modern politics.
Paul appeals to the alienated and the self absorbed who think everything in life should be ordered to suit their own personal whimsy, he will not sell to the mass of the US voters who both understand, and accept, the burden of self Govt love of liberty imposes on people.
An excellent post, MNJ. Spot on, imho.
Good one John!
You’re right... and you’re right about IT people in general. After 23 years in the “business” side of Oil and Gas, I recently moved into IT with my company. (chesapeake). I’m the IT liasion to the business. I have the skills to communicate with “regular” people, and the skills to communicate with the IT guys. And you’re right.... most of them are incapable of really working well with normal people. :)
We're not all that bad. LOL!
That is who he sells to, the people who love liberty.
You’ve got a great way with words. You sure nailed Paul’s popularity appeal.
I’ve wondered these past few months, why does the GOP put up with this guy? Does he vote GOP or is he all over the map? I cannot imagine Paul functioning on a day-to-day basis in Congress - I suppose that I could check it out, but I really don’t care.
A lot of truth in your post....and no CAPS! Congrats!
Absolutey untrue, Johnnie. That's as much a Hollywood myth as all Republicans are wealthy and democrats are only for the little guy.
And there are different types of IT jobs. Some might require sitting in a cubicle coding all day, but most require constant interaction with others--customers, co-workers, and suppliers. BTW, both Phsstpok and I are IT types. We're well known social party animals!
