We’ll see. It’s going to take Fred some time to change the perceptions he’s allowed to build up. Time he may no longer have.

I will be loving it if he can keep it up.

True, but I'm glad that he's now pro-life and anti-illegal-immigration. He really needed to change those and now that he's done so, he's hitting them strong. :-)

I'm not sure it was ever true. I'm suspicious this was totally MSM driven, just as I'm suspicous that this so-called Huck surge wasn't MSM driven. All the MSM has to do is plant the seeds.

What perceptions are those? The media's attempt to label him "lazy?" That's the only negative thing out there about him, and it's never seemed to be true. His pace has always seemed ... well, like that of a leader, rather than a candidate. It makes him the guy who you can't help watch.

From what I can tell, Thompson's whole strategy has been that he would grab his support from the folks who had thrown in their lot with one of the other candidates, who they didn't necessarily like, but who "could win."

Time-wise, that would require giving the others more time -- and Fred's biggest challenge would be to time his moves properly. I think he's probably done that -- the primaries, rather than the Iowa caucuses, will show whether his timing was off.
