Ramos, Compean pardons? 'No,' 'No,' says Bush rep
WorldNetDaily.com ^ | December 22, 2007

The White House apparently is so reluctant to discuss the issue of pardons or commutations for convicted U.S. Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean that a spokesman doesn't even want to allow questions about the issue to be finished.

The circumstances arose during a White House press gaggle with spokesman Tony Fratto, when Les Kinsolving, WND's correspondent at the White House, tried to raise the issue of the disparity in the treatment of the Border Patrol agents, compared to that given Scooter Libby, an aide to Vice President Dick Cheney who was convicted of lying during an investigation into the outing of the identity of a covert U.S. agent.

The agents were convicted and given prison sentences of 11 and 12 years for shooting after a self-confessed drug smuggler fleeing back into Mexico after leaving 750 pounds of marijuana in Texas, while Libby was excused from serving any of his prison sentence through President Bush's intervention.

The White House repeatedly has said there is a pardons request procedure available to the agents, even though Libby apparently did not go through the same process before Bush acted.

"A number of times here, when questions were raised about former U.S. Border Patrol agents Ramos and Compean, we were told that there is a process for pardon. And I have a three-part question on this…" Kinsolving began.

"You have to make it quick, because they're calling for me," Fratto said.

"I will. Could you explain to us why the president refuses to commute these men who shot an escaping Mexican drug smuggler…" Kinsolving continued.

"No," interrupted Fratto.

"…as the president commuted the prison sentence of his friend, Scooter Libby," Kinsolving asked.

"No," Fratto responded.

Good posts. This issue makes me so sad and angry. I wish there was something we could do, with Christmas coming up, to let R & C know that they haven't been forgotten and that they have the support of many people.

And btw, unlike some here, it doesn't surprise me at all that Jorge isn't pardoning them. But he has pardoned drug dealers, carjackers and other convicts. The fact that border agents,on the other hand, are getting hung out to dry is very telling.

There is a term for your type on web sites. It's called being a Troll. Bye Bye Troll.

I prefer assclown - fits an internet tough guy like BoobJ much better.

If congress never intended for this legislation to include LEO’s, how come not one, not Hunter, Not Rohrbacher, not Poe not Feinstein, has proposed legislation to clarify that?

Each day that goes by without it, all LEO’s are in danger of having circumstances that may apply. Each day that goes by without it LEO’s are thinking twice about “doing there job”.

How come you haven’t demanded it?

Oh ya, you’re too busy giving an enema to something. The “cause” you know, is more important than getting R&C home with their kids or protecting LEO’s from out of control prosecutors.

W’s long-time pall and ally Traitor Sutton took a cut in pay to accept the job on the border.

Why?

Now...that's quite interesting. I didn't know that. That cut in pay doesn't mean a thing if he's getting money elsewhere, or if he's been promised something...some kind of carrot....An unethical ladder-climber like he wouldn't be taking a job for less money unless there was something in it for him....personally.

Dude, people who post this as the very first entry on their "About" page shouldn't go around calling other people assclowns...

"Capitalization is the difference between 'helping your uncle jack off a horse' and 'helping your Uncle Jack off a horse'"

Now some may think that is funny, however most men would hold it for a round of golf with their frat buddies, not post it on their MySpace page for women and children to see. Unless you're going for that trailer park image.

Well, Bob, there are all sorts laws against BP agents/LEO's accepting bribes from criminal enterprises. We all know that. That much is a given. So I won't try to dig up the specific criminal codes that deal with it.

Having said that, the prosecutor in question would have to go through the agent's financial background, and dig up records/evidence/testimony with regards to the bribes in order to establish the quid pro quo between the two parties. Having done all of that he could then legitimately claim that the agent in question had probable cause to take down the the "drug mule" from the opposing cartel.

Of course, Sutton never attempted to claim that R & C were "on the take". So you are just grasping at straws.

And now that you’ve posted that on this thread, Bob J, you’ve ensured that EVERY single woman and child on this thread has had to read that....whereas, it would have otherwise taken a willful act by going on his homepage to have read that.

Well you know, drug runners don’t usually give receipts while a slug in someones back is a little more, shall we say, palpable?

“So I won’t try to dig up the specific criminal codes that deal with it.”

I’m sorry, it sounded like you were putting yourself up as someone who knew what they were talking about.

That’s like saying “you know Mr. Prosecutor, you convicting that child molester ensures that many more people, women and children in particular, might find out there are child molestors in their beighborhoods.”

BTW - He must have been pretty proud of it to put it smack dab first and up front. It might be me, but I think it says something about this persons mentality.

Are you defending it?

You’re good at pointing fingers, arencha?

What you did is indefensible, especially as you hypocritically criticize another and justify your own pigishness.

Nice try at deflecting.

It won’t work, Bob J. I know how you operate.

All you needed to say, if you “truly” cared about what was on his homepage, is tell him in private. But you weren’t honestly concerned about women or children having to read what was on his homepage, as you ensured you plastered it all over a thread as you “condemn” him.

Give it up.
