After today, Rush Limbaugh is in reruns until January 3, the day of the Iowa caucuses.
Highlight from a moment ago: "The drive bys are doing everything they can to influence the Republican primary. Mike Huckabee has been getting a pass from the drive-bys... They don't want Rudy because they think he can beat Hillary. They don't want Romney because of the same thing. They don't want Fred Thompson because of the same thing."
Can a guy who's been slammed as hard as Mike Huckabee has by Rush Limbaugh, the most popular conservative radio talk show host in the country, go on to win the Iowa caucuses? Anybody think Rush will have dropped this issue by the third of January?
My instinct is to say, "no way, a thumbs down from Rush is fatal," but a guy on another campaign cautions me. "An Iowa pastor who has been talking up Huckabee isn't going to change his mind because Rush Limbaugh doesn't like him." He points out that a pastors and religous leaders deal with people who fall short of their ideals all the time; hearing that Mike Huckabee was too merciful in dealing with Wayne Dumond is not going to be a dealbreaker for them. They'll probably go, no pun intended, "there but for the grace of God go I."
So... if a certain significant chunk of Huckabee's supporters back him because he's the most vocal Christian in the race, not because of the conservatism of his record or policy stances.... if the moment comes where the race needs a Huck Slayer (as social conservatives thought the race might require a Rudy Slayer)... can anybody in the race go after Huckabee on that ground? Can anyone make the argument to that Republican plurality, "Okay, nevermind conservative policy choices - he's not the good Christian leader you think he is"?
Tough ground to fight on. Just thinking out loud here, can a rival point out the ethics questions from Huckabee's Arkansas days? Is Huckabee's "innocent" question about Mormon beliefs the act of a good Christian? Is there something borderline blasphemous to compare opponents' direct mail to a Biblical verse describing "weapons" deployed against the righteous, or comparing one's campaign fundraising to the miracle of loaves and fishes?
Would Jesus hire Ed Rollins?
I don’t want to talk about Arlen.I try not to think about him:)Well it really is going to be interesting. If I had to pick one it would be Duncan but he is way behind in the polls.
Fatima, if I could plunk one guy into the WH today, it would be Hunter. But I have been impressed with Fred’s grace and humor under pressure, so I think he would make the better nominee. Our candidate must be elected, and it’ll be tough for Americans to dislike this guy. Merry Christmas
If your observation were true, why is the Huckster Campaign suddenly trying to make nice with Rush? I believe that Rush has far more power than your feeble mind can properly appreciate. How so? Do you see the Driveby Media trying to constantly bring Rush up over and over again in hopes of finding a story or an issue that will bring him down? Do they do the same thing with Hannity? Savage? Levin? Any of the other conservative voices with the one possible exception of Ann Coulter? No - rush IS a target exactly because he IS equal time to the mind numbing liberalism we see day in and day out from the Drivebys. Accept the truth, Rush is Right.
Rush does have his large pack of lemmings, for sure. I simply do not prescribe to the notion that he speaks for the large percentage of the right.
I’m a Hunter fan fatima, but I was moved by this Christmas message from Fred. It’s a good one.

I believe that he, on an ongoing basis, properly articulates an effective conservative message that resonates with most conservatives. He does so with a flair and a sense of comedy that may bother some conservatives.
Your attitude is insulting and a wee but arrogant in that you seem to be saying that the people that support or agree with Rush are just stupid fools following the piper without any attempt to use their god-given intelligence or common sense. Indeed your comments have an elitist, snobbish tone that reminds me of those made many times by the pinheads Democrats and moderate Republicans like John McCain.
If anyone is elitist or snobbish, it is the Rushites on here who use the majority of their posts to insult other posters and Republicans for not following the company line on all issues. If someone wants to have an honest debate on said issues, I would like that. What I am very tired of is the constant name calling, juvenile posts of unflattering pictures and the frequency at which posts are made to simply throw out personal insults. Rush has done this on his radio show and it now permeates these forums and almost all political discussion (on both sides). I am very tired of it and if I see a candidate whose nomination and election might blow up the status quo, I am going there, even if said candidate is not right on all of the issues. I am not yet a Huckabee supporter, but the more I read here, the more I like him. Just as I liked McCain in 2000.
But if he's going after Huckabee, then it's all good. Huckabee needs to be taken out before he destroys the GOP.
Ok... Let’s have that discussion. Since you mentioned that you did support McCain let’s see where we disagree. What topic would you like to talk about? Campaign Finance Reform? War on Terror? Energy Policy? Taxes? The pictures and “name calling” you speak of has been a contant element in American politics since our nation first began. Political satire has been around much longer then that. None of that, NONE of is started with Rush. Now you could say Rush really excelled in the art of political satire and his access to the masses via his old TV show and radion allows him to spread that satire to a wider audience than ever before. It would be a lie to suggest that the Left’s practices only started to defend themselvs from Rush. The Left has been in full politics of personal destruction mode since the late 60’s to Early 70’s if not before that. I have NO issue with political satire as long s it’s based in the truth, which is exactly what rush does. Are you saying you have issues with the truth?
No, I have issues with half truths, misrepresentations and lie. I am not talking about the left here. I could care less about them. I am talking about Republicans eating their own for political gain - including Rush. For example, in 2000, agents for the Bush campaign spread false rumors about McCain having a black child in SC. Is that OK with you? Huckabee is accursed of being a big taxer when he reduced income taxes. sales taxes were raised to fund voter mandated road and court ordered education improvements. Overall, taxes came down in Arkansas, roads and education improved and jobs were created. yet, it is fine to completely distort Huckabees record on taxes? Rudy has a headache and other campaigns (anonymous of course) spread the word he might be dropping out of the race. That is OK? It gets to a point where it is impossible to believe anything you read when it comes from one of the campaigns. By the time the general election comes around, all of the lies and hal truths become common knowledge and the Republicans have done it to themselves. Now, of course, the Dems do the same thing, so maybe it evens out (but I don’t think so considering the lack of balanced national media reporting). I simply find it embarrassing that this is how we now elect a President. I believe people lack Rush and the majority of posters on FR contribute to this environment. Embarrassing.
Boy are you dumb. Rush’s show comes almost directly from FR. I’d say well over 50% of his material comes straight from FR.
Rush’s show is merely FR for people that can’t read or don’t use the internet. So if you hate his show, you should hate FR.
Let me make this crystal clear for you. Rush copies FR. FR does not copy rush.
Whatever you say.
Merry Christmas alstewartfan(((Hugs)))
God bless you gpapa,Merry Christmas ((((Hugs))))
I was listening to Rush on Friday. A caller suggested that even though Huck may not be 100% conservative, neither were the other front-runners. I couldn’t believe it when Rush defended Rudy and said he only broke with conservatism when it came to abortion and gays ....as if those are issues conservatives don’t really care about that much! Rush never breathed a word about guns or Huck’s extreme right-wing position on he second amendment. This race is now between Rudy and Huck and there’s no question that Rush is pimping for gun-grabbing baby-killer transvestite Rudy.
He can win without Rushs blessing. Rush does not have that much power. Most people understand by now that Rush is nothing more than a pill popping, thrice divorced hypocrite laughing all the way to the back because of the sheeple who continue to buy his line of b.s.

Your Post:
You think someone should be zotted for not liking a radio show?
Sieg Heil.
No I don’t think someone should be zotted for disliking a radio show It’s the statement,
“Rush is nothing more than a pill popping, thrice divorced hypocrite”
that leads my to believe that the person posting the comment was a DU troll.
In many cases the GOP is just paying lip service to the pro-life and anti-homosexual agenda.
