The voice of Natalie Maines, lead singer for the Dixie Chicks, floated across the state Capitol grounds Wednesday as a line of West Memphis Three supporters snaked up the steps with a giant banner.
Maines was due to arrive any minute. Meanwhile, those rallying for the release of three men convicted in the 1993 slayings of three 8-year-old boys listened to a recording of the Dixie Chicks 2006 hit, Not Ready to Make Nice Forgive, sounds good Forget, Im not sure I could They say time heals everything But Im still waiting...
About 150 people including national media and an HBO film crew attended the rally...

Shut up and sing......
The Ditsy Chicks strike again!
They won’t even make a counter offer.
Natalie’s a legend in her own mind
She is the one who despises FreeRepublic.
She and her fellow moonbats aren’t helping these guys. Their lawyers should tell her to shut up and go home to Austin.
LOL!
So...what made you think of me? ;o)
The Ditsy Chicks are not qualified to shine Beccy Cole’s boots! :)

Subtract media, roadies, groupies, and lawyers, and it means that only 3 local hippies and a homeless guy actually showed up for the thing.
It is mutual.
only 3 local hippies and a homeless guy actually showed up ...for the free food.
HBO, IIRC, did a documentary on the case years ago. It was very disturbing. It was so long ago, and it’s hard to know how fair it was, but at the time, after watching it, I thought the guys convicted may have been railroaded. Of course if I were to watch it today, I may think the opposite.
The Huckster might can help free them.
How about we exchange Natalie Maines for the three kids? The kids are probably innocent (in my opinion, I don’t need any flame wars), and she’s done far more harm encouraging our enemies. Plus the little butterhog might take off a few pounds on prison food. It’s tougher to hold a violin with only one chin, but those are the breaks.
Another cause-celeb prison case, based on believing that someone properly convicted and guilty is somehow a victim of the system.
The use of DNA evidence is always trumpeted as dispositive proof of innocence, but of course it isn’t. Reading the story, there are some samples of — what?? — hair perhaps, and they have now been found to belong to a stepfather.
But what does that prove? The fact that one piece of evidence does NOT come from the perps does not mean that the perps were not there. It just means that one particular fibre is from another source. And of course the clothing of the victim would be EXPECTED to carry fibres from the victim’s home and family — and since that “match” is normal, it doesn’t and shouldn’t be understood to be a demonstration of innocence.
But of course, I’m being logical — that’s too much to ask of the left.
From the article, and note the illogical jumps:
“...Meanwhile, those rallying for the release of three men convicted in the 1993 slayings of three 8-year-old boys listened to a recording of the Dixie Chicks 2006 hit

Echols, Baldwin and Misskelley now known as the West Memphis Three were teenagers at the time of the killings. Echols was sentenced to death; Baldwin and Misskelley are serving life sentences.
The victims were three 8-year-old boys: Chris Byers, Stevie Branch and Michael Moore.
Last month, however, a defense team filed a writ of habeas corpus, arguing that new DNA and forensic testing hasnt yet linked any of the three men to the crime scene. Rather, the defense says hair and fiber evidence suggest the presence of Terry Hobbs, stepfather of Stevie.
...
“Im just amazed that these guys are still in prison and that they turned into men in prison, she said, explaining why she had decided to offer her support and a donation to the groups defense team.
....
Davis urged the crowd to read about the new science being applied to the case. It is real. It proves the innocence of these three men. Its time that Arkansas did take action.
..
From the very beginning it was ridiculous that they were convicted, she said. Now theres more evidence showing they didnt do it. Its icing on the cake.
Mutual, for this FReeper!
Prosecutors must have linked them to the crime originally, even without DNA evidence...
