PLAATS: Well, I think what it is, the war on terror is obviously it’s a theological war.

Ideological, yes.

Theological, no.

Use your eyes and the brain God gave you and figure it out for yourself. Examine the video and determine if it is the least bit plausible that the composition was an accident.

I am using my eyes and brain...and not yours. I take the TV spot for what (I believe) it was intended to be; a wish for a Merry Christmas, and a reminder of what it is about (ala. Linus' monologue in "A Charlie Brown Christmas"). I have no reason to distrust Mr. Huckabee, or any of the other candidates.

If you are unwilling to do that, nothing can be done for you.

Does that mean I'm not a "Real Republican"?

You are refusing to see what is right in front of you, and no words from anybody are going to change your mind.

I see a "+" and not a "†". No words from anyone who wasn't there are going to change my mind. Does that make me close-minded, because I'd like a witness before I vote to convict?

But don't be surprised if people wonder why you are so resistant to the obvious.

It's a big tent. I'm confused by peoples' attraction to a couple of the candidates, but I don't berate those that support them.

Clearly nothing is going to change your mind. Everybody has a right to my opinion, but they don’t have to accept it, so that’s OK with me.

But, for the sake of argument, suppose that the cross element of this advertisement was purposefullly contrived and the candidate is lying about it now, what would you think about that?

I know, I know, nobody likes to answer a hypothetical, but I ask you indulgence on this.

You do know he adopted extreme anti-illegal Mark Krikorians “attrition” plan as his own right? Probably not.

I realize he's saying something different during a campaign.

You judge the man on his past performance and decisions. Period.

He had a public face friendly to Mexico and the illegal immigrant. He's the real deal if you're looking for pragmatism. And we need it bad. ;^)

In this day and age, unless every single member of that video shoot is a Huckabee Groupie of the First Order, we’ll find out soon.

“You do know he adopted extreme anti-illegal Mark Krikorians “attrition” plan as his own right? Probably not.”

What is “extreme” about “attrition through enforcement”?

“He had a public face friendly to Mexico and the illegal immigrant.”

Do you believe Illegal Aliens should return to their home countries?

I have no problem engaging in a hypothetical. Let's just say that I would be so deeply offended, that I would likely drop any/all support for any candidate that attempted to engage in the type of activity (call it "subliminal Christian suggestion") that Huckabee is being accused of. It is using a Christian symbol (and by extension, Christianity) for self-promotion, while denying any consequence. Christ died for all of us, and not to become an impartial, third-party reference on someone's resume

Such subliminal Christianity would seem to promote the idea that "I'm too afraid to admit I'm a Christian, but I still want to wrap myself in its virtue for my own gain".

It is because I would consider it such an offense, verging on a 'deadly sin', that I need definitive proof that someone has committed it. It's that serious to me; and I won't make the charge lightly. (a parallel to this could be what has happened to the term "Racist" or "Racism". Both are so overused that I find the accuser as negatively as the accusee)

Hope I've been clear

Merry Christmas

Great job exposing this authoritarian statist.

The real question is do you think that if that Mexico/Latin America only guest worker program goes into effect that those people should ever have to return to their home country?

Hope I've been clear

Very much so, and I understand your point of view. I guess we just disagree on the likelihood of the composition of Huckabee's ad being an accident. And Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Actually it was a cross that magically appeared behind his head to indicate he is the anointed one.

Are you saying that they tried it and it didn’t look like a cross so they added the ornaments to enhance the effect?

The glowing white moving cross was just an accident, that was unnoticed by anyone in the production team. Honest.

If you actually believe that, I've got a bridge in Brooklyn I can sell you cheap.

You put your assertion out there for people to consider. But spamming every thread that mentions Huckabee with your so-called “proof” and browbeating anyone who is unconvinced does not reflect well on you.
