House Speaker Nancy Pelosi , D-Calif., admitted Thursday that she had underestimated the willingness of Republicans to stand behind President Bushs Iraq policy despite the drubbing the GOP took in the polls in 2006.
The assumption I made was that the Republicans would soon see the light, she said. Instead, the minority stuck to the presidents war policy in the face of unrelenting pressure from congressional Democrats and powerful lobbying campaigns by anti-war groups.
Bush has consistently refused to accept any limitations on his authority to direct military operations in Iraq, or on funds destined for the war effort. Democrats have been unable to muster enough votes to force him to accept a timetable for withdrawal of combat troops or a change in their mission in Iraq.
The grassroots are justifiably disappointed and I am too that we have not done more to end this war, Pelosi said.

Besides she is from an extremely Liberal part of the state.
But, but, wouldn’t she have to *have* one?
Look at me, I’m a Woman, Ugly and Clueless but never the less I have the time so therefore I’m your leader.
I'll add that I think we've reached the point that AQI and the rest of that lot can't beat us (although they're not dead yet).
The real danger, here, is that the Democrat Party and MSM can beat us ... and they're trying very hard to do so.
Nancy Pelosi is deeply disturbed.
Do Nothing Nancy misunderestimated President Bush...again. How’s that Tony Lama feel Dingbat??
Pray for W and Our Troops
The problem with Pelosi is that she is surrounded by like-minded Liberals who cannot and never will follow through but just say they would like this or that perceived problem cured and dump some money on it and nothing results. It is also typical of the population control crowd, who may be the same persons for the most part.
It is always fun to see the same names on different liberal board of directors.
They think that they can trick us into believing that there are sooo many liberals for some doppie cause.
She just can’t admit that Bush ate her lunch on Iraq.
She has nothing, nothing to parse, triangulate, frame, resonate, smokescreen, bait and switch, or scam. They went out on the limb so far on the anti-war bandwagon that Bush has her completely boxed in while the MorOn.org’ers and PsycKOS’ demand action.
Bet that Speaker seat’s red scorching hot about now.
She and Reid have a majority. they can cut funding. They chose not to. Own your role Nance.
The only ones you miscalculated where our troops and their desire to win and ability to win. The reason the Republians haven’t joined you in numbers that would make it “safe” to withdraw funding is because our troops are damn good.
I firmly believe that the loss of Republican House and Senate seats in 2006 was NOT due to the Iraq war, but instead was due to the lack of fiscal discipline by the Republican-controlled House and Senate.
"What goes around comes around."
You made your bed Nancy, now show some political humility and admit you are wrong!
I disagree.
It was because they played the same game as the dem's with a with a conservative conveyance but only for the same reason, personal political gain.
Lack of knowing the ability of the public to "figger" their game lost them the house and senate.
Pelosi is a FAILURE.
She wants to end it in a loss. We want to end it in a win.
Politically she isn't.
After all, she IS the first female speaker of the house.
Believe me I have chills up my spine. How could this woman be helping to run our country? She is an idiot and a traitor. It is amazing what money can buy, too bad it can’t buy intelligence and common sense.
