WHY GIULIANI NEEDS A MIRACLE (go ahead, Rudy--wanna try kicking so/con Repubs to the curb, again?)
NY POST ^ | December 18, 2007 | RICH LOWRY

Posted on 12/18/2007 6:17:18 AM PST by Liz

--SNIP--Giuliani is finally suffering from the natural gravitational pull of his messy personal life (as mayor, he financed a security detail for his mistress) and his ideological heterodoxy (especially on social issues).......it has dragged him down to a level where it is no longer an invisible force.

His supporters thought that he'd bump up in the NH polls once he started advertising. But since Nov 10 he's spent more than Romney and McCain, and Giuliani's numbers have, if anything, declined slightly.

Pundits speculated that the WOT was the new social issue, more important to Republicans than abortion or gay marriage.........over the weekend Giuliani went to Florida to try to relaunch his campaign with a speech on his "12 commitments".....

He didn't mention the one about reducing abortions........

I would not rule out Rudy quite yet. See the polls today, nationally and that he , on Ras., at least is up 2 points. I would not rule out any of the top 5 as of yet. The Huck cannot win nationally , neither can Mitt or Fred as of now. John might but no one trusts him in the GOP BASE. I would wait before anyone writes off the one tough guy who could stare down Hil, Obama and the Islamofascists.

Thanks for the PING.

I was just on another Rudy thread - He's now 3rd in Florida.

Apparently his 'abandon the early states and kick the conservatives aside strategy' ain't working. Besides FL in the mega primaries, Rooty is losing in IL too.

The SS Rooty, ship 911, is sinking fast. And come Feb 6th Rooty will be calling 911 -- for an ambulance after his heart attack from getting trounced.

No one in the the GOP base trusts Giuliani either. His name and the money behind him is the only reason he has hung around this long. I think he's running out of gas.

I'm sure he'll be real tough when the Democrats start unpacking all the baggage he has.

Jim Robinson said it best back in April:

Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

Rudy automatically loses 10% of the base. I am committed to NEVER giving him my vote for any reason.

The party is waking up to what everyone already knew. Rudy’s personal life is a train wreck of embarrassment. His positions on issues should be a clue to conservatives that this guy is no conservative. And his experience is now about 7 years old, and he’s done nothing since.

And he really didn’t do anything noteworthy before 9/11.

GIULIANI BANDWAGON BRANCHES OUT TO ISRAEL
By MAGGIE HABERMAN, NY Post, April 21, 2007

EXCERPT A group of Israelis has launched a grass-roots effort to get people living in the Jewish state who are eligible to vote in the United States to line up behind Rudy Giuliani, it was reported yesterday.

The group, Giuliani Supporters in Israel, was launched by Mordechai Twersky, a onetime candidate for state Assembly in The Bronx in the early 1990s, according the Jerusalem Post. Twersky has established a Web site, giulianisupportersinisrael.org, with background information including Giuliani's famed eviction of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat from a Lincoln Center concert in 1995. "I did this as a private personal initiative, as a proud American and Israeli citizen, and I am confident that it will catch on," Twersky told the paper.

He said the campaign hadn't set up his group, but that he's been in contact with Team Giuliani since he got started. Giuliani has historically been popular with Jewish voters, and took a hard pro-Israel line when he was in office. Giuliani's campaign didn't return The Post's calls for comment. In some past elections, planeloads of Israelis with American citizenship have flown to the United States to vote.

*** "I (Mordechai Twersky) did this as a private personal initiative, as a proud American and Israeli citizen, ****

It's crap like this that really - REALLY - p*ss*s me off. I don't care if they are Jews, Mexicans, Hungarians or Irishmen living in a hut in Upper Volta - this special status 'dual citizenship' garbage has to end and should be illegal. It's just as if the Chi-coms were buying influence with Clinton - its the same thing.

We all know one cannot serve two masters, nor be loyal to two countries - so PICK ONE. And if it isn't the USA, then get out, stay out and don't f___ing come back. And don't even think of voting in OUR elections. In this case Mr Mordechai made his choice and picked Israel - so stay there and vote in your own dam elections - leave ours alone.

Okay GWB-—will add you to the long, and growing, list.

Me too Liz. You have done a great job stirring the Rudy pot. I've been lovin' it.

Oh My God———Holy Mother of the Sweet Baby Jesus.

I am appalled.

You realize Big Abe’s gonna be in a snit about this, don’t you?

Man, ol’ Abe’s gonna unleash his $100 milion budget to nip this thing in the bud——

IF he can tear himself away from the all-you-can-eat buffet table, that is.

Hopefully, the GOP is learning a lesson from this and the rise of Huckabee. The Republican party needs social conservatives to win elections and that social conservatives aren't going to be satisfied with lip service and crumbs thrown their way anymore.

There is a list for that?? Nobody told me! I sure hope I don’t get forgotten!

Hopefully, the GOP is learning a lesson from this and the rise of Huckabee.

The lesson so far seems to be that when a bunch of RINOs run and have a lot of money backing them, no clear front runner emerges and Republicans get turned off, especially the base.
