Larry Bourbonnais, who was slightly wounded during last week's shootings at New Life Church, was ejected Sunday from the same church for alleged aggressive behavior.
"I took a bullet for members of this church," he was heard to shout as he was hustled out of the Colorado Springs worship complex by security guards.
The Rev. Brady Boyd said the church has petitioned for a restraining order against Bourbonnais, who tried to stop Matthew Murray's killing spree.

A church is a Family... at 10,000 members in one building, that have no denomination, you have nothing but a cash machine for those who wish to exploit it.
I have no issues with churches that have millions of members, but one single “church”... sorry, nope. That’s a city, not a family.
Lest you forget this is the same church where their pastor had to step down for doing drugs and having sex with male prostitutes not all that long ago...
This isn’t a “church” with a great track record, and it doesn’t look like its going to be anytime soon... as this stinks of even more cover up issues.
To keep his version of the story quiet, so that their official one will be swallowed hook line and sinker?? After all don’t want to interrupt those greenbacks.
I don’t know, but that’s what it looks like to me.
This is not the way to help the Lord’s wounded sheep.
This man was highly critical of the way things were handled.
But rather than approach him before hand (if they felt the need to approach him at all), they approached him in front of everyone and grabbed him.
Because it is so much more important to look good than to be good or do good.
I don't know what to make of it. It sounds like a mixture of Larry wanting to be in the limelight and embarrassment on the part of the security guards employed by the church.
Too bad, seems some of the people involved are not really modeling the behavior commanded by the Lord with the eyes of the nation on them.
I wonder if this is the answer I've been seeking...
My original question:
My question is why is the government and the media trying to convince everyone that the perp in 'the springs' took his own life when the eye witness accounts were clearly unanimous in that Ms. Hassan fired the kill shot, after the perp was down with Ms. Hassan standing over him, when he reached for "what looked like a grenade" (most likely a smoke bomb since he'd used one earlier) I could understand possibly the kill shot didn't kill immediately and he died 10 or 15 minutes later, but there's no way all the eye witnesses could tell us Ms. Hassan fired the kill shot and the perps guns were jammed, if the perp actually shot himself... reasonable ideas anyone?
We'll see if Rev. Brady Boyd is any better pastor than Ted Haggard.
To be fair, they did try to meet with him before but he failed to show at the appointments (according to them anyway..) but I do have the feeling you are more right than wrong...
I’m not the only one then. My take was the security guards wouldn’t engage the shooter, so Burbonnais who was a Nam vet tried to have them give him one of their guns. When they didn’t he drew Murray’s fire by insulting him so the chick could drill him.
Looks like good tactics to me that saved dozens. Took alot of bravery to draw fire unarmed IMO. I don’t see the problem with any of it, but the church seems to have an issue. I can understand if he’s using it for personal gain, but that doesn’t seem to be what the church is upset about, at least from the article.
If how he handled the crisis has got the church leadership in an uproar, then I’ve got a bit of a problem with the church leadership.
I wouldn’t necessarily say that.
My sister belongs to a huge church now that not only puts on a fantastic Christmas and Easter show every year, but the pastor really supports proper Christian decorum.
He even kicked out 1 of his members, a trombone players with the orchestra for said shows - my sister’s friend’s now ex-husband - when the friend found out he had been blatantly cheating on her. (Having a shack-up with the woman on the side, everything.) Unlike so many today, he didn’t just simply counsel them out of it and make it seem like the man was put-upon (a popular sexist thing too, I might add). He went by the 10 Commandments.
I know this doesn’t mean all mega-churches are nice, but not all of them are bad. I’ve also known very small churches that really aren’t quite up to snuff.
They weren’t “employed”. They were volunteers FROM the church itself.
Just need to get that straight.
Most likely scenario is that he was loudly making demands of the church. No idea what they would be.
The rental cops were probably well trained for this type of action and did not appreciate a civilian inserting himself into the situation. Their job was to preserve life, not to take it and the guy acted in a way that excited the shooter. Not appreciated at all.
That is my best guess and I feel that the security guards are taking a lot of unwarranted heat. Their lack of action could have been for a number of reasons, particularly people in the back ground. We probably should lay off them.
Yes, I noticed the pastor handling Assam and it appears this guy just won't go along with the program.
The first church had 3,000 members. Possibly 2 to five times that as usually only the men were counted.
It was a Mega church.
This is a story with many layers. First of all the Pastor is given the responsibility to protect his flock by order of the Word. They did that by instituting a security staff. One of whom engaged the perp.
We have no idea why two other security officers did not fire but it could have been parrishoners were in line of fire or whatever...this guy seems like he REALLY wanted to be the hero, those sorts do not make good security in my opinion...sure he took a some concrete shrapnel and was fired at by the perp, and sure he distracted the shooter while Ms Assam took bead on the perp, but we dont know the full story about Larry. This is not our call, but the Pastor and his staff’s call.
I know that as a pastor, I am sure more security conscious than I was a couple of weeks ago.Seems like the enemies plan was to kill as many as he could and an armed guard stopped him “dead” in his tracks. Amen that the carnage was not any worse than it was.
Well - Burbonnais did say he yelled at the guy “You S*&!head!” Maybe THAT’S why he is getting kicked out!?

I've met this guy. He's a nut.
No he didn't. He noted the guy standing there with a gun in his hand and not doing anything, so he offered to do something with the gun that wasn't being used.
That’s where I was going with it. If so that’s pretty short sighted. We’re talking a reflexive split-second survival situation trying to save many many lives. If that’s their beef, they need to get real.
