Wow! I don’t know about Darlene Love, but
Bruce the flying saxophone Santa rocked!
Longer than there’ve been fishes in the ocean
Higher than any bird ever flew
Longer than there’ve been stars up in the heavens
I’ve been in love with you.
Stronger than any mountain cathedral
Truer than any tree ever grew
Deeper than any forest primeval
I AM in love with you.
I’ll bring fires in the winters
You’ll send showers in the springs
Well fly through the falls and summers
With love on our wings.
Through the years as the fire starts to mellow
Burning lines in the book of our lives
Though the binding cracks and the pages start to yellow
Ill be in love with you.
Longer than there’ve been fishes in the ocean
Higher than any bird ever flew
Longer than there’ve been stars up in the heavens
Ive been in love with you
I AM in love with you.

These words are like God speaking to me. He is
the great I AM. His love toward us is described
as beautifully as any Psalm. Fogelberg conveys
a love beyond space and time. How can this love
be Anyone but my Heavenly Father, Creator of the
universe. It’s hard to imagine a love that big.
Harder yet to put it into words. But he did.

For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth; Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written The days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was not one of them. How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them! (Psalm 139:13-17)
I was at a bar in Gatlinburg in the 80’s and a good singer/guitar player had the stage. He did tell everyone that Fogelberg was a big part of his study. You could tell.
RIP and thanks for some very thoughtful music Dan.
Oh my, he was so young. I’ll have to search my stash of LP’s and find his old record. I so did enjoy his music.
Dude, quite a clip. Thanks for the ping.
wow....thanks for sharing that; I hadn't thought this way about this song before....thank you for sharing that, Jo.
“Gentlemen, listen when your wives nag you to go to the doctor for your annual.
And if you dont have a wife to nag you, nag yourselves.”
ABSOLUTELY! My brother in law was diagnosed a few years back. There is much that can be done, but being vigilant about checkups and treatment are key....just like breast cancer for women!
Thanks for that tidbit. One of my favorite songs this time of year.
His song, “Same Old Lang Syne”, always reminds me of my last winter in my home state of Wisconsin, back in 1981.
RIP Dan.
He gave us some very good songs back in the 70’s. RIP.
I pray that the knowledge of
God will bless you in mighty ways.
Thank you, Jo.
And may God continue to bless you, as well.
I still don’t know who Dan Fogelberg was.
Either you’re extremely young or you live in a cave.
Here, this will help. http://thelivinglegacy.net/condolences4.html

Thanks for posting that link
Actually... Dan Fogelberg did NOT define the sound
of the 70’s. One of the reasons he was so popular
was because his music was ... well, it was MUSICAL.
I don’t even think DF ever used a back beat, an open
high hat or a synthesizers. With me, he ranks up there
in the top three along with Kenny Rankin and ... er...
yes, Barry Manilow.
