...and that rap crap isn't music...it's just crap...it doesn't touch the soul, lift you up, bring you to places; it's nothing to feel anything about, except irritated after awhile.

Depends on what you mean by "awhile." If you mean about twenty nanoseconds, then I agree with you.

No problem. I’m lost without my CDs, which are in storage.

I kept thinking “Met my old lover ...” and the little earworm devil kept going on with “... on the street last night” ... and into “Still Crazy After All These Years,” instead of “... at the grocery store ...”.

And this is in spite of hearing the real song so often lately because of Christmas and New Year’s, and it always moving me to wistfulness!

So, all in all, I’ve been meeting old lovers and drinking myself some beers in my mind this evening, lol. No rain *or* snow here, however. Love the song, anyway, and now I’ll never again mistakenly think it was one of Paul Simon’s.

*sorry, Dan!*

Just Damn. I’ve always loved his music. Hated his politics, but loved his music. He was a poet, and his music has soothed many aching hearts and souls over many years. I’m so very sorry. He was too young, but we go when we’re called.....

He did a country-ish album, too. High Country Snow? Dang, I have it somewhere around here.

And it’s going to be a day....

There is really no way to say “no” to the morning..

Yes, it’s going to be a day. There is really nothing left to say, but “come on morning”.

I’ve just done a cursory look at the thread, but didn’t see anyone mention Dan’s “Run for the Roses” — easily one of the finest songs about horses and horse people.

RIP, Dan.

Wow!

I loved the man's music growing up.

I understand he was a BIG liberal; but I still loved his work.

The strange thing about this was I had just put a u-tube audio of “Scarecrow’s Dreams” from Netherlands on in the background and went to check the news, the first article that pops up is the news of his death! It stunned me.

I am so sorry to hear this, very sad, indeed. He was my favorite singer and the only person to cut an album where I loved every single song on it. His music gave me much pleasure.

I lost my Dad to prostate cancer in '79, when he was only 57. I remember at the time that Netherlands and Twin Sons were two of my favorite albums.

Just damn.

RIP Dan, and "I thank you for the music, and your stories of the road".
