Sandrat,

Your tradition sounds so great!

My father would make up a big pot of sausage in tomato sauce on Christmas Eve. I once asked him why and he said because his father used to do it. So now, every Christmas Eve I fry up sausage on the grill and put them in the crock pot to simmer while we go visit family. Then we’ve got sausage to eat for days and can enjoy all the Christmas fun without having to worry about making big meals and all the cleaning up.

As for our Christmas traditions....

we just accomplished one this evening — for the last several years (9 or 10) we have gone on a carriage ride with some of our friends to see the Christmas lights at a local light show. It was dang cold tonight!!

A police officer was shot here Friday night. We have never seen so many police cars as there were on that stretch of road. He had been called to a car accident and when he got there a guy was sitting on the curb. When the policeman went to arrest him for DUI, the nut pulled out a gun and shot the officer in the head. He died yesterday morning. He had remarried a few years ago and he had 2 kids, she had 2 kids and they had one together. The oldest is 9 and the youngest about 1 1/2. Such a sad situation here at Christmas. How do you explain to kids that young that your dad is dead because he was doing his job to keep us safe. Just makes me so sad! His funeral will be Tuesday. Prayers would be appreciated for his family, friends and fellow officers.
