I was serving in Congress and on the Judiciary Committee for the ridiculous and politically motivated impeachment hearings of President Clinton. During that witch hunt Newt Gingrich, Tom DeLay, and Ken Starr wasted a year and a half on investigations and hearings about President Clinton's personal relations. However, this attempted coup d'etat by Republicans against President Clinton was not and should not be the standard of impeachment that was enshrined by the Founders in our Constitution.
...
Instead, I believe that we can both live up to our Constitutional obligation by holding hearings and pass a Democratic agenda. If President Bush perceives that the Democratic Congress is weak and unwilling to aggressively push our agenda - he will continue to veto legislation, such as children's health care - that is supported by a majority of Americans. The only way to move a progressive Democratic agenda is by acting through strength and following through on our core principles. A Congress willing to stand up to the abuses of the Bush Administration through impeachment hearings will demonstrate a strength of will that will more likely convince Bush to accommodate on issues such as Iraq, health care, and energy and environmental issues.
Today, I was joined by two other members of the House Judiciary Committee, Reps. Luis Gutierrez and Tammy Baldwin, who penned an online editorial with me calling for these impeachment hearings. In support of this effort I am releasing a call to action on video and launched WexlerWantsHearings.com. The full op-ed from the three Judiciary Committee Members can be read at this site. If we can get 50,000 or even more people to sign up in support of this effort I will report back to each and every Democratic colleague of mine the true power that exists behind this movement.

Wexler’s district is deep in the land of the Hanging Chads of Florida. THAT should tell you something about the IQ of his voters and their representative.
His petition is linked to web sites to make donations to his campaign.
This nut job Democrat is doing the same thing Rep. John Conyers did a couple years back; milk the lunatic left for $20 contributions and a chance to buy his book if they went to his “blog” and signed petitions.
Now let me get this straight. If the White House is controlled by one party and the Congress is controlled by the other party, then Congress should hold hearings to impeach the president, in order to get his attention and (presumably) make him more congenial to Congress's agenda.
And all this comports perfectly with what the Framers intended when they set forth the process for impeachment.
Got it. I think.
Yes.
Wexler's threat would, if carried through, put Cheney in the White House...in which case he might be persuaded to become the Presidential nominee for the Nov. 2008 election.
In another few years the entire bottom half of the state will be an inhabitable cesspool fit only for the criminals that abound there.

So, use impeachment as blackmail. Hmmm, I’m thinking that’s not what the founders had in mind.
My sarc tag should have been posted. What they want is Government Capitolism.
It’s well past time to put an end to this crap by having warrants for treason drawn up and served on these moonbat liberals.

That is a very good analysis.
Well Wexler is a little insane and panders to the little old blue haired ladies of West Palm Beach.
The same ones that couldn’t vote correctly during the election of 2000.
Wexler is the type of snooty little nerd that would regularly get and deserve an ass whoopin in school,
I never believed that the voters in West Palm Beach had trouble voting...that was all a pre-planned hoax by the Democratic Party to try to have a chance to concoct more votes, since they miscalculated on how many fraudulent votes they needed to carry Florida.
I live about an hour north of Palm Beach.
The little old blue hairs are about as out of it as one can get.
You’d be scared to death to be driving while in the vacinity of some.
90 year olds unable to see over the dash still driving.
Hell, at 92 my grandmother got a renewal for her licence and she sent in her $20.00 and got a 7 year renewal.
As for voting?????????????????
I recall hearing that the Gore people went into the nursing homes to "help" residents cast their ballots...who knows how many of them knew what they were doing?
Check the ballots for drool.
But Gore also challenged military votes.
What a piece of work.
I think they did something similar in 2004 by filing lawsuits in Ohio over a third-party candidate (whether he would be allowed on the ballot), in order to prevent military people overseas from having time to receive and return absentee ballots.
Now ya don’t want too many of those right leaning military types to vote do Ya?
I can not believe there is so little outrage.
The problem is, we are entering an era in which - aided by media bias - politicians feel entitled to their own facts and aren't interested in anyone else's.
