Woman Has 10 Husbands, Charges Say

MIAMI -- The honeymoon is over for a 26-year-old woman who was married at least 10 times.

Eunice Lopez was charged with bigamy after federal immigration authorities discovered she had married 10 men between 2002 and 2006 without divorcing any of them. The Miami Herald reported Saturday that a records search by the newspaper found seven additional marriages under the bride’s name and birth date.

“I can tell you that none of the individuals she married had any type of residency,” said Terry Chavez, a spokesman for the Miami-Dade Office of the State Attorney. “We can only assume that she did it for the money, but this is still an open investigation.”

Lopez arrived in South Florida from Cuba in 2002 and was a legal U.S. resident. Prosecutors say she charged her husbands an unspecified amount to help them secure immigration status and continued asking the men for money long after the wedding, threatening to expose them if they didn’t pay.

Chavez said the state attorney’s office began investigating after being tipped off by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Lopez, whose last known address was in Hialeah, was released on $18,000 bond. A telephone listing for her could not be located and it was not known if she had an attorney.

Ten times her name has come across their desks and no one noticed? Oh, never mind, this is the agency that can't find an illegal in a protest parade down the middle of Main Street, USA.

Oh, wait, it was ICE that finally picked up on it. Whatever, it still took them at least 10 “marriages” before they had a clue so it still proves they aren’t doing their job.

Well, now the question remains. Will they locate the ten husbands? Nine of them are still illegal. The odds are somewhere between zilch and zero.

This begs the question WHY DO YOU GET A MARRIAGE LICENSE in the first place? Don’t they look up your Social Security number and see if YOU’RE MARRIED????

Ten Marriages, Ten different SSN's. Not to mention ten different welfare checks. Ten different food stamp cards. Quite simple if your illegal.

Yep, guilty as sin. She’s only 26 too? Looks almost 40 to my eye.

In South Florida "Lopez" is like the name "Chin" in China.

Not hard at all to understand why it would go unnoticed

The article says the woman was a legal US resident. Why they didn't catch -her- is beyond me.

What I want to know is, how did she juggle her time between husbands? Wouldn't some see her with others from time to time? Was she with (and presumably sleeping with) them all during the same 2002-2006 period, or was this some sort of serial arrangement where she carefully cast each one off before getting another?

The mind boggles....

The thing is, she is a legal resident. She had to have reached the shores of the US as an exile from Cuba to be declared legal. That may have been her first scam.

The thing is, they didn't want to "see" her. All they wanted was to be declared legal by marrying a legal resident of the US. She probably charged them a nice fee, did the paperwork and off they went. She had a pretty lucrative scam going.

The question is will they hunt up all the men and deport them along with this POS? Also I would bet money if ice would get off of their dead asses and start looking they will find a whole bunch of these dirt bags.

Yikes. I don’t believe she’s 26. 45, yes.
