We’ll murder them if we have Fred on the ticket.

We’ll probably wound them slightly and be able to step over them with any of our other candidates.

If we can nationalize the Murtha take down election as it should be, Russell has a chance to get the funding he needs.

I have a hard time seeing him win a gutter fight with The Beast.

I'm not so sure about that. I think her gutter tactics, so recently delightfully exposed, are hurting her. Mitt comes off as decent, solid, calm, centered. (No, I haven't chosen a candidate yet). I think the contrast with her shrillness would suit him well. I just can't hold it against him that he is good looking and has a great voice.

And I loved his standing up for the President. I think that is an American thing to do.

Deeply disappointed in Fox News and especially in Brit for their very strange and incomprehensible fear or dislike of Fred.

Wish somebody could ‘splain it to me.

I’m a Mitt supporter, and when I look at him, I visualize a man who smiles as he meets world leaders, and then tells them what the plan is going to be, never losing the smile, but with steely conviction in his words.

My bottom line is choosing a leader who will support America in our 21st century global situation. I can never forget how Fred Thompson got bested in Congress by John Glenn, working with the Clintons. I have no confidence that he could go eye to eye with our enemies without folding.

That’s my greatest fear about Mitt. I like him, lots of people like him, but nobody LOVES him.

That's the smartest thing I've heard all week anywhere. That's exactly what's wrong with a Romney candidacy. In a leader, as opposed to a representative legislator, it matters; he must elicit something deeper than mere approval.

Democrat head of the Wyoming party said numerous candidates will lose with Hillary on the ticket. I can only hope.

“Mitt still has the same stance on guns that he always has?”

Yes, He’s still anti-gun!

I agree with all you say. The only person who has a right to resent Mitt’s good looks is his wife!

And maybe all the rest of us girls as it just ain’t fair that men age so much better than we do.

I think I’ll go pout for a while on that note.

Well, there is also admiration. Frankly, I don't need to fall in love with the candidate. I'm pretty sure I don't even want to. I want to be convinced they can do the job, cause it won't be easy.

“Fox News, once again, doesn’t utter Fred’s name until thirty seconds remain in the broadcast”

That, and Bill O’Reilly’s exclusion of Fred’s name on the list of GOP candidates.

Fred nailed FOX on its bias against him and now FOX is proving him right.

I agree with you, Pitts—Fred is the elephant in the room. I just sent him $50 last night. Go Fred!

Mitt's doing well. More real and natural than we usually see. He's reframing most of Tim's questions, and Tim did not attempt to stifle as much as he usually does. Mitt was able to explain the why's and wherefores of some earlier votes and positions. He accomplished it to my satisfaction.

For example, one anti-gun measure (assault weapons) had NRA support. Another example; fees (taxes)for interstate exit advertisements for restaurants and gas were raised dramatically from $200 a year.

Unless Fred lights up, Mitt's the best.

Best moment; the tears in his eyes recalling the news in '76 that Mormons had dropped their prejudice against blacks. Coupled with his civil rights history --and his father's--this exchange was as sincere as any I've ever seen from a politiciam. He said he was driving when he heard the news report, pulled off the road and wept. No acting, imho.

Thanks for those kind words. Perhaps I should quite while I’m still ‘smart,’ but I probably won’t.

No TV here, but it seems like Mitt ought to reply, “I’m not running to be chief priest. Would you stop wasting my time and ask a question about politics? Something people care about, like...”

Sad.

Great post Altura!!

Bubba has to be going through a true epiphany since he is forced to spend a long(perhaps very long)"year" campaigning for someone he probably does not like too much at all and then be told he is screwing things up for her.!!

Probably not Bubba's cup of tea since he's used to being surrounded by a group of yes men(errr.. let's make that yes women)and told how wonderful he is.

The same thing happened to me when I heard that the Berlin wall was coming down. I had to pull over. I was so full of hope and now we have Putin.
