Manchester State Democratic Party Chairman Raymond Buckley yesterday condemned nationally syndicated radio show host Michael Savage for remarks he made about New Hampshire and its place in the presidential nominating process.
Last week on his program, "The Savage Nation," Savage said "Why are we still running elections like it's the 19th Century, where New Hampshire determines the election? A bunch of yokels in New Hampshire are going to determine the election as much as my dog is going to determine the election."
Buckley called on Fergus Cullen, chair of the state Republican Party, to join him in asking the Republican presidential candidates to condemn Savage for his attack.
Cullen said yesterday he had not heard the comments, nor heard of them, and did not want to comment.
Savages remarks targeted Iowa, site of the nation's first presidential caucuses next month, as well as the Granite State.
"What kind of rubbish is this that New Hampshire -- a bunch of drunks up there -- and Iowa, they're going to determine the outcome of an election? Who came up with that nonsense? That's like believing in Santa Claus. If you believe that a bunch of drunks in New Hampshire and a bunch of stamp collectors in New Hampshire and a bunch of corn farmers in Iowa really are going to predict who the next President is going to be, that is like believing in Santa Claus," Savage said.

SAVAGE in the news PING!
I find myself agreeing with Savage this time. Like a caller to Hannity why should 2 states decide the nomination?
WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH THESE LIBERALS???
I listen to Savage every day, I heard what he said. It is called satire. Savage is not a journalist or news anchor, he is a commentator, and a shock jock like Imus.
These liberals are offended by everything.
Well, right now it looks like they are voting against Hillary, so let's stay quiet until after she is defeated.
Why?
“Buckley in a statement said, “Michael Savage needs to hear from the Republican presidential candidates that this type of insulting and ignorant attack on our democratic process will not be tolerated.”
Ahh, its called free speech.
I’m from NH and listen to SAVAGE every night. I laughed at his comments.
Beats listening to Hush and the Wallbanger. Oh, and the looyah girly man.
I totally agree with Savage.
I could write a 10 page essay on all of the things I have learned from him over the past few months.
Which talker do you prefer?
Mee too! I cant stand the wallbanger, the leprechaun, and the empty golfbag.
I don’t know how to get through the next few weeks while he’s on vacation!!!
I try and spread my listening time around. Here of late in the bay area , we have quite a few different offerings so we are actually pretty blessed.. Ya got Rush, Levin, Boortz, Savage to name a few. Some I am pretty much in sync with, altho some have their pecularities but as long as the change channel button works, we get along just fine.
Altho I can also go for long periods of time without listening to much of any of them.. and be perfectly content to do so.
It must be rough on all those lamebrain media matters monitors tho.. lol. they have to listen..
This Democrat is going to give Michael Savage a bigger audience. Good for Savage.
So Buckley thinks satire and political humor shouldn’t be “tolerated”?
--------
As a starting point, I'd like one who isn't afraid to broadcast under his real name.
And - this might be asking a bit much, I realize - maybe a guy who isn't utterly shocked to learn that a Baptist Minister (Jerry Falwell) believes you have to accept Jesus to get into heaven.
I'd also like a guy who doesn't buy into the global warming crapola, won't regale me with inane stories about the restaurant he ate at the prvious night, and isn't obsessed with attacking other conservative talk-show hosts.
Weiner spends more time attacking Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, et al than he does attacking leftists. But I've never heard one of those guys mention Weiner.
He's a fraud. He should go back to writing about the magical medicinal properties of tree bark.
Hank
Well, he is a Democrat.
What’s wrong is that they are taking a page from the Islamonazis and will be permanently “offended” and then take their gripes to court to get rid of the person who disagrees with them.
No small matter.
I have to agree. Why would you listen to Savage?
