The United States, as the world's only superpower, is less vulnerable to military defeat. But it is more vulnerable to the animosity of other countries. Much like a top high school student, if it is modest about its abilities and achievements, if it is generous in helping others, it is loved. But if it attempts to dominate others, it is despised.
American foreign policy needs to change its tone and attitude, open up, and reach out. The Bush administration's arrogant bunker mentality has been counterproductive at home and abroad. My administration will recognize that the United States' main fight today does not pit us against the world but pits the world against the terrorists. At the same time, my administration will never surrender any of our sovereignty, which is why I was the first presidential candidate to oppose ratification of the Law of the Sea Treaty, which would endanger both our national security and our economic interests.
As president, my goal in the Arab and Muslim worlds will be to calibrate a course between maintaining stability and promoting democracy. It is self-defeating to attempt too much too soon: doing so could mean holding elections that the extremists would win. But it is also self-defeating to do nothing. We must first destroy existing terrorist groups and then attack the underlying conditions that breed them: the lack of basic sanitation, health care, education, jobs, a free press, fair courts -- which all translates into a lack of opportunity and hope.

To say this is naive is an understatement. Just like the Dems, he blames America first and thinks that the solution is for the US to get down on its knees in front of all the other countries and ask them to "please love us". Heck, he is worse than Hillary -- closer to Kucinich. He thinks that "lack of sanitation and healthcare, etc" causes terrorism, not the radical Islamist philosophy. I guess he is not aware that many high livel terrorists -- including Atta and Zawahiri, not to mention Bin Laden come from middle class, even rich families and have been highly educated.
How can he be leading in the polls of Republican voters?!
Hey, umm, Huckster - this ain’t high school anymore. Now take your eyes off of Fred’s trophy wife.
This is an outrage.
Bulls--t Huckster.
Priority Number One: Don’t elect Huckabee.
The Rodney King School of International Diplomacy
"Can't..Can't we all just get along?"
He also doesn’t understand that you can’t negotiate with anti-US dictatorships, who only use any diplomacy to keep us from interfering with their pursuit for uclear weapons.
He thinks he can solve the problem with Iran with diplomacy — and it is really our fault, because we weren’t diplomatically aggressive — translation — give Iran everything they want, so they can laugh themselves silly, while they are building nuclear bombs and missiles.
This is what Huck says:
“Another way to contain Iran is through diplomacy. We must be as aggressive diplomatically as we have been militarily since 9/11. We must intensify our diplomatic efforts with China, India, Russia, South Korea, and European states and persuade them to put more economic pressure on Iran. “
“Much like a top high school student.”
Gee, Huck, is al Qaeda mad because they weren’t invited to the prom?
Lack of freedom is the chief cause of terrorism. Or the belief/delusion that a person lacks freedom and/or is being oppressed.
"Many Iranians are well disposed toward us. On 9/11, there was dancing in the streets in parts of the Muslim world but candlelit vigils and mourning in Tehran. When we invaded Afghanistan, Iran helped us, especially in our dealings with the Northern Alliance. Hoping for better bilateral relations, Tehran wanted to join us against al Qaeda. The CIA and the State Department supported this partnership, but some in the White House and the Pentagon did not. After President Bush included Iran in the "axis of evil," everything went downhill fast."
Huckster is a delusional nitwit!
There is also the notion that WE can fix other societies. We don’t even know where to start on this. The only method that appears to work is to totally destroy the society, as we did Germany and Japan, and then start rebuilding.
I’m pretty sure that’s not what he has in mind.
The Huckster is an idiot! Those things do not create and breed terrorism!!! What breeds terrorism is chiefly two things: Islam, and a lack of political freedom. What the Huckster says about the things that breed terrorism could be said about rural China. But China isn't bustling with terrorists.
Does this make him a “surrender spam monkey,” too?
So all we have to do is build enough toilets and the world will be safe./s
Anyone but Huckabee.
When you understand the behavior of sovereign states through the perspective of a bunch of high school kids, you are liable to swallow anything.
