PROUD NEW U.S. CITIZEN !!!
Posted on 12/15/2007 11:37:37 AM PST by Live Free NH
After being a Legal Permanent U.S. Resident for the past 35 years (Canadian citizen /my hubby is U.S. citizen by birth), yesterday December 14, 2007, I was sworn in as a U.S. CITIZEN at the U.S. District Court in Concord, NH !! I am SO PROUD and SO EXCITED !!
93 new citizens were sworn in from 33 different countries! It was a WONDERFUL ceremony ! Every nationality you could imagine was represented !
Within 3 hours of getting sworn in, I went to my local Town Hall and REGISTERED TO VOTE ! So I will be "good to go" for the New Hampshire Primary on January 8th ! whooo-hooo !!!

The process went WAY faster than I expected. Historically, all my interaction with U.S.C.I.S. (formerly I.N.S.) has moved slower than a dinosaur, with lots of complications, screw-ups, and glitches. However, the Citizenship Application process went really well.
I applied July 24, 2007. I was notified to come for fingerprinting Sept.26, 2007, for FBI background check. Then I was asked to appear Nov. 6th for the Citizenship Interview and Testing (I got 100% on the test). Then the Oath Ceremony was yesterday Dec. 14. I never dreamt that I’d get sworn in before the end of 2007. I expected that nothing would happen with my application until next year sometime. So, the whole process went very well, and I am extremely pleased!

When that law was being debated, I called our Senators offices, and Congressmans Offices and SCREAMED blue murder about it !! I'm sure you got a nice warm welcome from your Congresscritter's office given that both of NH's House seats are now occupied by the most worthless Maoists you can imagine.

If you remember a lot of us voted for Wallace back in the ‘70’s, very strange feeling. The upside was, at that time you could redeclare on the way out.

Congrats for you, welcome to the American family.
Let's hope you are voting for Fred Thompson.
Responsible citizens vote conservative.
Friends don't let friends or family vote liberal.

Congratulations!! A new Republican, too! Wonder how many in the room with you were!

I REALLY REALLY like Duncan Hunter, and feel that if I vote for him, I wont have to compromise my conservative principles in any way! I sure can't argue with that. Excellent choice, IMO. ;-)

Thanks for going through the more arduous channels to become a legal citizen.
And we’re glad to have you on our side.

During the peace negotiations in Paris in 1782, Benjamin Franklin suggested to the British negotiators that Britain ought to let the US have all of Canada. Obviously the Brits didn't go for the idea...but it would have saved you the trouble of acquiring US citizenship! Of course it will mean more to you because you had to make an effort to obtain it.
Congratulations!

Dittos that.
That is something the MSM/DEMS/LIBS don't understand about us conservatives, WE DO welcome immigrants, as long as they are legal, or did it the legal way.
