Good endorsement for Mitt. Right now, I think he might be the one to get my vote.
No matter how he tries to spin it Romney is a typical Northeastern Republican. Nice hair and nice words but his conservative impulses are a recent acquisition for political purposes, just like he adopted liberal causes when he ran for governor of Massachusetts.
I pointed out to the purists, one of whom (governmentistheproblem) has adopted a FReeper name indicating great admiration for Reagan, that they were being very hypocritical in condemning Romney while reverencing Reagan over their relative public pronouncements about the RKBA. Romney is certainly no worse than Reagan on the issue and is arguably much, much better.
To recall just where Reagan ultimately came down on this issue, let's go back in time:
By STEVEN A. HOLMES, SPECIAL TO THE NEW YORK TIMES

"In a shift meant to break a logjam in the House, former President Ronald Reagan today strongly endorsed legislation requiring a seven-day waiting period for the purchase of a handgun and urged President Bush to drop his opposition to the bill . . . ."
Go ahead, read the whole article.
I do not intend to denigrate Reagan, although I STRONGLY disagree with how he came down on this issue. Reagan is easily the greatest president of my lifetime. My purpose is to highlight the raging hypocrisy of the purists here who are attacking Romney and Bork.
No politician has done more to assure the country is slouching toward Gomorrah than the Mitt Wit, who didn't lift a finger to stop gay marriage in Massachusetts and did nothing be promote abortion rights and homosexuality. He even tried to bar the Boy Scouts from the 2002 Olympics.
Interesting.
I still don’t think Mitt will be the nominee.
He would do the same as President.
Judge Bork is a man I really respect. I will have to take his endorsement under consideration.
This is something I never expected.
Another great endorsement for Mitt!
Wonderful endorsement for Mitt!
Bork misses the fact that by the time the gay marriage thing came up in Massachusetts, Slick Willard was already in Presidential Campaign Mode - a mode which he has been in since at least as far back as 2002, if not slightly earlier.
