Tolerance can be a good thing, but in this case there is zero tolerance. Zero. Zip. Nada.

Before anyone comments, yes, I did carry a knife in elementary school, though I had to forgo the “truck with the gun in the window” part until high school....(The truck was no problem. Daddy wouldn’t let me carry the gun in it until 10th grade....)

That’s nice to hear. I, too, have more than one teacher that I remember with deep affection.

I disagree with what you say in your second sentence. In fact, bureaucrats tell a lot of people how to do their job - think of all the doctors wrestling with government programs and insurance stuff (not to mention the malpractice insurance); and think of the bureaucrats that tell people how to keep records lest they be audited.

As for your advice for teachers to quit, you are pretty silly really. Maybe about 30 years ago when a lot of this nonsense started, if some teachers had really stood up to it, it might have worked, but now the scales are tipped against them. They can quit and then someone will just come and take their place and be happy to tow the line. I’d rather have the good ones be on the front lines and trying to do their best, IN SPITE of what they are up against.

Your posts make me inclined to think you are not a fighter but a quitter and one who gives up.

The girl’s family must be recent immigrants from a free country.

What's to assess?

Well, the girl's counter-revolutionary tendencies, for one thing.

After a healthy dose of self-criticism and reeducation, the girl may be rehabilitated by her party cadre.

I doubt there’s a school anywhere in the country that doesn’t have a “Zero Tolerance” policy. I doubt there’s a kid in the country that doesn’t know about the “Zero Tolerance” policy at their school. If parents finally wake up and decide they don’t want their little darlings hauled off to jail because the school is serving steak for lunch and the kids have no way to politely eat it, they should band together and work on getting rid of the Zero Thought Allowed school policies.

Are you saying that because the lunatics have instituted a "zero tolerance" policy that it was proper to arrest this girl?

As I said, I bet everyone does....I’ve not heard anyone yet who hasn’t, not at least one.

And, sometimes, that’s truly all it takes, as you earlier said...just one.

I did my part: Eight years as homeschooing mom, mother of 4 successful adults, and grand mom to 4 homeschooling grandchildren.

The country could use a whole lot more of this.

Not at all. I repeat:
“...they should band together and work on getting rid of the Zero Thought Allowed school policies.”

The solution is for all those who cherish freedom and rationality to band together and work together to get rid of government schools.!

I don’t know if eliminating them is the answer, but change has to be made. I attended public schools through the 12th grade, and they were pretty good - but that was a long time ago. I gradated in 1965. They can still be saved - if We the People take back control.
