[10-year-old] Student Arrested After Cutting Food With Knife
Local 6.com ^ | 12/14/07

An elementary student in Marion County was arrested Thursday after school officials found her cutting food during lunch with a knife that she brought from home, police said.

The 10-year-old girl, a student at Sunrise Elementary School in Ocala, was charged possession of a weapon on school property, which is a felony.

According to authorities, school employees spotted the girl cutting her food while she was eating lunch and took the steak knife from her.

The girl told sheriff's deputies that she had brought the knife to school on more than one occasion in the past.

Students told officials that the girl did not threaten anyone with the knife.

The girl was arrested and transported to the Juvenile Assessment Center.

Hmmmm, why wouldn’t a knife (or fork or spork) issued by the school be equally a weapon under this policy and why therefore is not every child in that cafeteria arrested for possession and use of a weapon?

She attacked that innocent food with a knife?!? Glad the school nipped that in the bud.

Good thing she wasn't found to be in the possession of a peanut.

That would be attempted murder.

Sounds like just plain good manners to me. What was she supposed to do, pick up the steak and gnaw off a piece?

roflmao!

that’s what education has become—

bureaucrats that can’t distinguish between a girl cutting a

piece of food with a knife,

and a socialist corrupting the minds of youth.

which is more dangerous?

Let's see. No dodge ball, no God, no history being taught, no phys-ed, no aspirins.

Yes condoms, yes visits to other states for abortions, yes faggots are our friends, etc., etc.

At some point this country will say to hell with the teachers' union and start home schooling in earnest. Perhaps we may even start a new system of teaching our kids that doesn't require us to pay $10,000 a year, per student, to teach this anti family bullsh!t.

The school “has zero tolerance for weapons on school grounds.”

Almost anything can be a weapon. Bats, books, chairs, erasers, pens, pencils, etc.

One “weapon” I’ve been attacked by, from a student, is a wirebound notebook...threw it at me as I had my back turned to him. This was a student who is receiving special services in school.

These types of students don’t belong in public schools; although this happened in a “closed environment” classroom, this particular student had also been within the general education classrooms periodically.

But, the federal government has decided, in its infinite wisdom, to have all students be placed in the “least restrictive environments.” It’s called “inclusion.” It doesn’t matter that these children need more help and care than any regular teacher can provide. And these types of students are assigned a teacher aid or special ed teacher to individually travel with them during the day.

Multiple that times how many students in each building, in each district, in each county, in each state? We are talking MAJOR BUCKS for individual students to have personal teachers traveling around with them during the day, every day.

It’s ridiculous, imho.

Considering the quality of school food, it may have needed something that sharp to cut it.

I remember the rice the school used to serve. They used an ice cream scoop to serve it up and it always maintained its exact served shape, even when bounced off the cafeteria walls....
