I accept the sticky cakes with a thank you on Chinese New Year when offered even though I had never heard of the celebration or custom until recently. I don't think that it's too much to accept a Christmas card if you don't celebrate.

So it's okay for someone to compromise their beliefs because of what you think?

I must have missed the part of Jewish law that forbade the acceptance of Christmas cards.

DouglasKC, you didn’t note that Dan1123 “compromised his beliefs” by graciously accepting sticky cakes with a thank you. From your posts, I can only infer that you would have been a pain in the rear by “educating” the gift giver in the particulars of your religion, at least if the gift giver were Christian.

Doug, you're acting like an ass. I saw that your account was banned or suspended. I wish I had your address, I would send you a lump of coal just like the one I'm going to send Barbara. Since your address is not available, here's the next best thing. A cyber lump of coal.

If you really want to despise Christmas, there are other places on the net that you can go to spread your holiday gloom. Now enjoy your coal and shut the hell up.

The point is the spirit in which such gifts are given, and the spirit in which the good intentions are received. Acting like an old-maid librarian about one's beliefs doesn't much impress people with the love described by Christ.

Oh I get it, you mean the Christmas card came with a portable baptismal font to waterboard you with?

That’s what I said for three weeks at Ground Zero. They’re free to blow us up and kill every chance they get, can’t ask them to compromise their beliefs.

Charity is not just about giving... but receiving.
