LOS ANGELES, CA, December 14, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Barbara Walters likes to receive Christmas greetings from high-profile celebrities and leaders, but apparently not if they refer to the Bible.

On Thursday's episode of ABC's The View, Walters expressed dismay that President and Mrs. Bush would send out greetings containing Scripture.

During the segment, Walters showed the other gals some of the "highfalutin Christmas cards," and explained the White House card:

She said, I don’t celebrate Christmas, I’m Jewish. I said, well, I’m a Christian and I’m celebrating MY holiday by giving a gift to you. If you don’t want it, I will give it to someone who is grateful.

An age-old reaction to the gift of the Messiah to his people, Israel.

So it's okay for someone to compromise their beliefs because of what you think?

The point is the spirit in which such gifts are given, and the spirit in which the good intentions are received. Acting like an old-maid librarian about one's beliefs doesn't much impress people with the love described by Christ.

I would imagine that sending a devout Jew a Christmas card is tantamount to sending a power drill to an Amish person.

Aaaaahh — there's the problem! Imagining that Baba Wawa is a devout Jew! You're displaying your lack of knowledge about Judaism — and about Baba Wawa!

And if your Jewish neighbors pretend not to mind, well, they're probably just being polite.

Here's the Chanukah House on Park Heights Avenue, Pikesville, Baltimore County, Maryland, where every year the owner decorates his house with large, illuminated Judiac symbols, decorations and toys. It is in the middle of the northeast Baltimore Orthodox Jewish section, and it brings delight to Jews and Christians alike every year. This picture doesn't begin to do it justice:

If “President Obama” and his family had sent her the card, she would have fawned and drooled all over it. Because then the religious quote would be “culturally cool and hip.”

Please don’t hold that against all of us! I am Jewish, my holiday is over, and I go around wishing everyone in all the stores, etc., a big Merry Christmas!! I love Christmas decorations, music, everything and I am enjoying the season wonderfully without having to do any of the “work,” LOL!

A funny: the other day I automatically wished a clerk a Merry Christmas, and he smiled and wished me one right back, and I thought, gee, his name is Ahmed, and so here both of us are, wishing each other a Merry Christmas when probably neither of us celebrate it! :)

Merry Christmas to you too!

You can know someone without knowing their personal religious beliefs. Knowing this information of the 60 people in your company is a bit weird.

Women, contrary to pc belief, are hard-wired to know a great deal about personalities. When I leafed through my yearbook at graduation, I was surprised how many people out of a 3,000-person class I was acquainted with, and yes, I knew the religions of a large percentage of them. Just part of understanding my gifts as a woman. To this day, if I run into a long-lost acquaintance on the street, I am amazed that I remember how many children they had, and often how old the children must be by now, without consciously calculating it.

So, the jumping references actually redirect current. Hmmmm. Interesting thought. Note to self: remember cables.

“You alone are the Lord. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You gave life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you.”

The above quote is from Nehemiah, from the Old Testament. As I recall Walters is Jewish. Does she not practice her religion?

The Lord referred to is YHWH, Yahweh. For Christians, that is God the Father, not God the Son, Jesus Christ. In translations of the Old Testament Bible, YHWH has been translated as Lord. However, the term is not to be confused with Jesus.

If you believe in God, no matter what your religion, you should not take offense at this verse as all it is saying is that God created the world.

I am not a Bush fan by a long shot. However, I suspect for people like Walter, no matter what Bush says or does, she will find fault with everything.

Did that Christmas greeting card with the scripture establish a national religion? No it did not. Now go piss of you ol’buzzard!
