Irony
a literary technique, originally used in Greek tragedy,
by which the full significance of a character's words
or actions are clear to the audience or reader although
unknown to the character.

Well, I suppose I could Google a definition as well, but I just figured that it’s pretty clear to the audience that this is fiction.

Your definition still holds up though, since it appears that Ms. Brady, as a central character is clueless to the irony of her own ramblings (as she will forever be).
