THERE IS only one presidential candidate with the courage, character, and conviction to lead this country: John McCain.
I can't say I recall Oct. 26, 1967. I was 2 when John McCain was shot down and captured by the North Vietnamese. But I've seen the chilling footage. I've heard his band of brothers attest to his bravery. I've listened to him humbly describe the acts of humanity he witnessed during his years in prison. Most impressive, I've watched him build a life of service to his country, without bitterness or recrimination.
McCain is no ordinary hero, and these are no ordinary times.
America's ability to maintain a thriving economy and a strong defense hinges on electing a president willing to make the tough calls. McCain's career has been defined by independent leadership. His relentless attacks on pork-barrel spending haven't won him popularity contests in the Senate cloakroom, but he can sleep at night knowing that he made the right choices for America.
True to his conservative values, McCain understands that fiscal restraint requires setting priorities and sticking to them. We have urgent national challenges - wars on multiple fronts, skyrocketing debt, unfunded entitlements - and yet, Congress still finds the time and the dollars for pet projects that deflect resources from our true national interests. McCain is the only candidate with the experience and conviction to level with Americans and force Congress to do the right thing.
He's also the only Republican who can win.

Well, McCain gets the Boston Globe’s endorsement!! This is a real badge of honor for Republicans. Next, he will try to get the endorsement of the teacher’s unions.
He is no hero at all in the world of politics. He is a liberal.
Except McCain is a backstabbing politician who pouts and whines when he doesn’t get his way.
Now, if he wants to take a shot at being Secretary of State, I’d give him the chance.
At this point in time and with Hillary crashing as much as she is, just about any Republican can win the election. Now I said “just about”. Alan Keys is out for sure. I prefer to see Fred Thompson or Duncan Hunter. I think if people saw more of Hunter, it would be a good thing.
Meanwhile Duncan Hunter was kicking ass and taking names as a Ranger in ‘Nam and all we hear about is Mccain.
Funny, this could have been written by Fred Thompson in 2000. Except it wasn’t quite as in awe of McCain as Thompson was.
Man, that's cold.
Hagiography makes me vomit in my mouth a little bit.
McCain is no military hero either. I have a good friend here in town that was an A-6 BN who was shot down and was in the Hanoi Hilton with McCain. It sends Bill’s blood pressure skyrocketing just at the mention of his name. He was a rat and a weasel who sold his soul to the VC.
BARF!!!
This is not an endorsement from the B.S. Globe.
Jane Swift served as acting governor of Massachusetts from 2001 to 2003.
Probably the worst Governor in the history of Mass.(including Dukakis).
McCain has an American Conservative Union (ACU) rating of 65 in 2006 - hardly a liberal.
Compare to Obama at 8 and Clinton at 12.
But he ain’t Duncan Hunter, who has an 88!
And I have yet to forgive him for CFR, the “gang of 14” and his anti-”torture” idiocy.
Sorry! McCain’s war record aside, his amnesty plan was a disaster for his campaign.
