The Democratic-led House of Representatives voted on Thursday to outlaw harsh interrogation methods, such as simulated drowning, that the CIA has used against suspected terrorists.

On a 222-199 vote, the House approved a measure to require intelligence agents to comply with the Army Field Manual, which meets the Geneva Conventions on the treatment of war prisoners and prohibits torture.

Facts: 1) it worked and it saved lives; 2) it's been used rarely; 3) Al qeada could give a crap about humane treatment; 4) using it will not encourage other countries to torture our soldiers, because they already have and would've anyway.

Any moral argument against it is countered by a moral argument against sitting there and not doing all one could to to prevent the deaths of large numbers of Americans. The bottom line is - would you rather have blood on your hands b/c you failed to take action known to elicit the info, or offend the moral code few in the world adhere to and save lives. This is my litmus test. Having an absolutist ban on anything is mindless. Even Bill Clinton acknowledged exceptional circumstances.

And if the enemy are not signers to the Geneva conventions and openly violate those conventions?

Waterboarding is NOT torture.

Any Republican that voted for this crap is an idiot. McCain is a bigger idiot because he has been one of the leading people calling waterboarding "torture".

Our islamic jihadist enemies certainly don't limit themselves from employing any and every kind of torture imaginable. They're laughing their butts off right now over this one.

Here we go again, Democrats and Liberal GOPers...Valuing the rights of Islamic Terrorists over the rights of terrorism victims.

Better to waterboard a terrorist than to bury an innocent victim.

I am tired of the pandering to Islamic Terrorists

We assert our moral authority and watch cities burn to the grounds, thousands die, and blame Bush and the Republicans for not averting the threat.

The foreign press runs fraudulent reports of our troops raping Iraqis and sources it with pictures from an adult website. Even if we are above board, the enemedia will still rile the jihadists.

Our waterboarding doesn’t “ensure” that we are treated harshly. We are treated harshly because we are kufir soiling their sand.

I’ve been wanting to ask these Representatives if their firstborn was decapitated by a hooded terrorist and we had his accomplice in custody would they make an exception?

After the next attack, the Left will proclaim that the War on Terror is a miserable failure that did not make us safer, Bush failed us, and Bush radicalized the jihadists. < /barf >

I’ll support this when the Dems condemn the treatment our soldiers and citizens receive from Al Queda.

IMO the Dems already have blood on their hands. How many soldiers have died because the enemy was emboldened by the actions of the Dems and their kiss ups.

Waterboarding isn’t torture. I wouldn’t be opposed to outright torture of these Isamonuts, but waterboarding isn’t it. This is dangerous and stupid.

O’Rielly asked a democratic strategist he had on his show this questions, she said, it’s different, if it was my child I’d do anything, but...the president is supposed to adhere to different standards. That’s ridiculous. Only your own are worth saving by any means necessary I suppose is the demotard position.

American government officials continue to work against the safety of the public. They continue to support the activities of sworn murderers and our enemies who are devoted to killing us. They continue to kiss our enemies asses. They continue to work to destroy the republic. It is time for a second civil war. It is time to take the government of this republic away from sworn enemies of the republic and take back this country. Refuse too and we shall surely die as a country and as a republic. Our demise is upon us. We are too tied up in stupid crap to worry about our country being destroyed. It is time to take back the Republic.

folks, note this language, “ used against suspected terrorists” this means various practices falling under this definition can continue to be used on our military during training.

just like murtha wants to give more due process rights to terrorists than the Marines, these dopes protect the enemy and ignore the military.

I see no problem with this at all. Next time our military catches a terrorist, just deliver them to the House floor and drop them off.......with no guards. When they interogate them, they can send them back to the military.

It will face a veto. Our politicians should not be tying the CIA's hands.
