I’m starting to see the same thing in different areas of the Catholic Church.
There is a growing “peace and justice” wing that seems to exercise a disproportionate amount of strength in certain geographical areas.
Our church in VA left the Episcopal Church and is now part of the Anglican Mission in America.....
Maybe you just didn't notice it earlier. The leaders of the liberal and largely dissident Catholic movement are mostly graying, although they have succeeded in doing a lot of damage.
I was an Episcopalian before I was a Catholic. In some ways, the Catholic Church led the way into dissent after Vatican 2, and the Episcopal Church unfortunately followed their lead. But the difference is that the Catholic Church has the Pope and the Magisterium, while the Episcopal Church for many years has been a warm & fuzzy consensus with no real leadership.
You could say that the Archbishop of Canterbury runs the show, but he doesn't have that much influence, even in England, and certainly not over the whole Anglican communion. He only has moral suasion, and over the years most of that has been kicked away.
As a result, the Catholic Church will recover, but the Episcopal Church may not.
American bishops are, in the lump, not going to inspire many of the faithful. Still, about the time these bozos actually make a case for abortion or the homosexual agenda, they will finally lose me and a large number of the folks I know.
Actually, the peace and justice wing is being overshadowed by the conservative wing, thank God.
