A suspected bias attack on four Jewish subway riders in New York City has resulted in a friendship between the Jewish victims and the Muslim college student who came to their aid.
Walter Adler is calling Hassan Askari a hero for intervening when Adler and three friends were assaulted on a subway train in lower Manhattan on Friday night.

Israelis have consistently treated Muslims in their state of the art hospitals and health facilities. Turnabout would be fair play........but not likely.

I don't believe that this was said, not for an instant. Not only that, but I refuse to believe that there were nine other individuals of like mind right nearby who also took simultaneous offense. If these individuals turn out to be in a gang of some sort, then I would point out that they're hardly the people you say "Happy Channukah" to.

I had a friend in high school with the last name of ‘Adler’. I wonder if they’re related.

Where were Adler's friends? 10 guys beat up Askari while Adler and friends who also engaged in the taunting escaped injury?
Is there security camera footage of the assault?
Eight men and two women have pleaded not guilty to assault, menacing and other charges in the case. Prosecutors have said the charges could be upgraded to hate crimes.
Would I have been justified engaging the black muslim street preacher who held a bullhorn to my face and pointed me out to the crowd as I walked by calling me a "white devil" for happening to have white skin and walking the streets of NYC (I did not say a thing or react before or afterwards to the man, his insult was in no way provoked)? Would my retaliation have been a "hate crime"? Or is the original taunt a hate crime?
(1) Not all Jews observe Shabbos. Many Jews are merely culturally Jewish.
(2) Many Muslims in NY are not particularly in step with the whole Al-Qaeda, hate-the-Jews ideology thing.
(3) The ringleader of the self-described Christians involved in this subway attack is an individual who was convicted of aggravated assault in a previous incident, and was waiting to serve a six-month custodial sentence before he got invovled in this little dustup. He's a thug.
Frist of all, Christians don’t attack others without just cause. These thugs were no Christians. I don’t care if the perp had 1,000 tatoos of Jesus on him.
As for the Muslim kid who jumped in, good for him. He did the right thing and I appreciate it.
If a Jewish person said Happy Chanukah to me, I’d have said it right back.
I hope these thugs spend a good amount of time in prison, to think over their actions.
There are 8 million people in the city proper, and another 10 million in the nearby suburbs. Do you have ANY idea how many morons we get on the subway?
