Everything is fine... The NEA knows what to do. Go back to sleep.

Sorry for the sarcasm, but rationalizations are not going to cut it. The public school system is controlled by liberal relativists intent on destroying every last moral absolute.

All this teacher-as-hero propaganda aside, if public school teachers really thought there was something wrong with the system, they would change it. The truth is, the ones that think there’s a problem go along with the program anyway because of.. well, some rationalization or another.

Isn’t the point of a teachers union to represent the teachers?

They are controlled by Marxists who are single minded in their goal to destroy the freedom made possible by Western Civilization. To help them they have armies of Lenin's Useful Idiots.

We are in a philosophical civil war and freedom will not win unless we start calling the enemy what it really is: Marxism.

Yes! If teachers wanted to change it they would. Citizens can not be a member of the NEA only teachers can be. Citizens can not call a strike for rational teaching practices, only they can. If teachers can strong arm a school board for higher salaries, they could do the same for reading and math programs that work, and sound discipline practices. They don't though.

The point of all unions is to protect their members. Unfortunately, the students don't have a union to protect them.

There is really only one solution:

Shut done government schools, and start over with a completely private system. If enough parents "go on strike" ( by removing their children from the government schools), the above will happen.

Perhaps you could draw a flow chart for a local school system which shows where the liberal relativists are located.

It's probably comforting to people to paint public schools with a broad brush and assume they're all bad. It isn't the case. Local control is ultimate in public schools. There's a superintendent (locally) and principals (locally) and principals. If the superintendent is a liberal relativist with liberal relativist principals and teachers under them, then you have a point. Otherwise, you have no idea what you're talking about.

Perhaps you should read Dianna's post #157 above. There's a LOT of truth in it.

Probably so, but I don't like the agenda the union pushes, so I don't belong. Do YOU belong to a union?
