Who in their right mind would think some of us enjoy being global warming deniers? Its a perilous position, to be sure.
There are many people whom, just because the weather does things that arent always in our creature comfort zone, believe that strange things are happening and its all our fault. Whenever a catastrophic tornado or hurricane touches down, it cant be a natural incident. No, such things arent supposed to displace us, or cause undue panic attacks. Life is supposed to be normal.
So we have people like Former Vice President Al Gore making movies. We have Hollywood actors, lecturing us on our opulent lifestyles, because they now are experts as they appeared in a movie on the subject. We have politicians scolding us because we dare use common sense when addressing global warming instead of embracing their remedy of the redistribution of wealth in the name of the planet.

If the tree huggers only knew who they had hitched their wagon to. Ed Begley is about the only one I know of that tries to live what he preaches. While I disagree with him on point, I can at least acknowledge that he tries to live up to what he souts off about.
Those look like they are from Carolus Magnus’s reign.

Nope, recognized the relative crudity of the engraving, and knew that Charlemagne was one of the few producing his own coinage at the time. After looking at the link, the effect of later inflation is clear from the fact that the denier, derived from the Roman Denarius, is a fraction of a sou, and in later days a sou was known as a nearly worthless coin (wouldn't give a sou for Ron Paul's chance of being elected)

Did you see that Simpsons (I think) episode where Begley has a car that runs on not gas, but his "own sense of self-satisfaction"? Pretty funny.
No but I’ll bet that was hilarious. Good one...
Here’s a list of everyone Algore has debated about global warming:
Darn - Didn’t catch the Holy Roman possibility - Drat.
And missed completely your subtle “not worth a (French) pig” pun! Blast!
This guy Bob Parks is great. Good writer, good thinker.
I do seem to remember, however, that he wrote a column some months ago (a year ago?) that had many of us cursing him, but I can’t remember what it was about....
I get that from time to time.
It’s called the “big tent”... :-P
