DEMS HOLD FIRE ON HUCKABEE; SEE ‘EASY KILL’ IN GENERAL ELECTION
Tue Dec 11 2007 10:27:53 ET
**Exclusive**
Democrat party officials are avoiding any and all criticism of Republican presidential contender Mike Huckabee, insiders reveal.
The Democratic National Committee has told staffers to hold all fire, until he secures the party’s nomination.
The directive has come down from the highest levels within the party, according to a top source.
Within the DNC, Huckabee is known as the “glass jaw — and they’re just waiting to break it.”
In the last three weeks since Huckabee’s surge kicked in, the DNC hasn’t released a single press release criticizing his rising candidacy.
The last DNC press release critical of Huckabee appeared back on March 2nd.
[DNC Press Release Attack Summary:
Governor Mitt Romney (R-MA) – 37% (99 press releases)
Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R-NY) – 28% (74)
Senator John McCain (R-AZ) – 24% (64)
Senator Fred Thompson (R-TN) – 8% (20)
Governor Mike Huckabee – 2% (4)]
In fact, as the story broke over the weekend that Huckabee said he wanted to isolate AIDS patients back in 1992, the DNC ignored the opportunity to slam the candidate from the left.
“He’ll easily be their McGovern, an easy kill,” mocked one senior Democrat operative Tuesday morning from Washington.
“His letting out murders because they shout ‘Jesus’, his wanting to put 300,000 AIDS patients and Magic Johnson into isolation, ain’t even scratching the surface of what we’ve got on him.”
The discipline the Democrats have shown in not engaging Huckabee has earned the praise of one former Republican Party official:
“The Democrats are doing a much better job restraining themselves than the GOP did in 2003 when Howard Dean looked like he was on the brink of winning the nomination.”
A close friend to Huckabee explains: “Look, Mike is Hillary Clinton’s worst nightmare. They should be squirming.”
Developing...
I have a thing about having a conservative in the White house.
I know, silly isn’t it...
Ditto.
The untrustworthy DNC denies:

LOL! Thanks for the memories. Hopefully the Huck will go down like Glass Joe before he ever gets near the nomination.
This shows precisely who the Democrats thing will be the easiest to defeat. They engage in more attacks against the candidates they fear the most. Notice who is way up there on top. I think FReepers should keep in mind who they're helping when they attack candidates who actually have a chance of defeating the Dem nominee.
There are plenty, like Matt Blunt from MO.
They don’t deny the substance of the article. Amusingly, their denial is another attack on Romney’s integrity, but they pass up the chance to take a swipe at Huckabee, which was exactly what the Drudge article was saying.
I know, silly huh?
Governor Mitt Romney (R-MA) – 37% (99 press releases)The lower number of DNC press releases on Fred doesn't necessarily reflect a lack of interest. When you consider the other candidates have been in the race twice as long as Fred, 20 press releases would be about average.
Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R-NY) – 28% (74)
Senator John McCain (R-AZ) – 24% (64)
Senator Fred Thompson (R-TN) – 8% (20) Governor Mike Huckabee – 2% (4)]
How long have each been campaigning vs the number of DNC press releases?
I've been a conservative on this conservative site far longer than you have and I support conservative Republican Mitt Romney for President. That you can be played so easily by the Democrats in their efforts to turn Republicans against Romney, demonstrates just how discerning you really are.
Those must be some good drugs you're on.
The Democrats sure are afraid of Romney more than any other candidate.
I am played by no one and am not blinded by bright shiny objects nor let their glare blind me to the principles I have followed for over 25 years. This is before the was even an Internet for general use, much less Free Republic.
Mitt sounds like a Conservative and has had the costume tailored to fit. Sadly this is not a play. He needs to have acted like a conservative, not just sound like one for this election cycle. The Dims may fear him, but that is simply because his is good looking and has an R after his name, not his long standing Conservative credentials.
The dems are not turning Conservatives against Mitt, his record is. They could do no better if they tried.
At best he has been a moderate. One with your extensive “Conservative background” should know better.
Get some sunglasses to cut down on the glare...
All it shows is that Willard has been campaigning the longest.
When did Mitt announce his candidacy? It only stands to reason the DNC would put out more press release against a candidate who has been running longer.
Where do you people come up with this stuff? You better go find that turnip truck before it gets too far away.
ROTFLMAO!!!
Glass slippers? Mmmm.......these'll go great with my inagural ensemble.
