Heisman Trophy Winner Tim Tebow Could Have Been a Victim of Abortion

University of Florida quarterback Tim Tebow became the first sophomore in the history of the NCAA to win the coveted Heisman Trophy as the best football player in the nation. However, Tebow's accomplishments may never have been supported had his mother followed a doctor's recommendation to have an abortion. With 29 passing touchdowns and 22 rushing touchdowns, Tebow displayed the kind of versatility that has become more valued at the quarterback position.

Pam Tebow and her husband were Christian missionaries in the Philippines in 1985 and they prayed for "Timmy" before she became pregnant.

Unfortunately, as the Gainesville Sun reports, Pam entered into a coma after she contracted amoebic dysentery, an infection of the intestine caused by a parasite found in a contaminated food or drink.

The treatment for the medical condition would require strong medications that doctors told Pam had caused irreversible damage to Tim -- so they advised her to have an abortion.

As the Sun reported, Pam Tebow refused the abortion and cited her Christian faith as the reason for her hope that her son would be born without the devastating disabilities physicians predicted.

Pam ultimately spent the last two months of her pregnancy in bed and, eventually, gave birth to a health baby boy in August 1987.

As she told the newspaper, Pam was not surprised that her son would be up for the Heisman despite no underclassman receiving the award since its inception in 1933.

"The combination of Timmy's God-given talent, hard work, character and leadership have made a mark on and off the football field," she said.

As prominent researcher Joel Brind writes in a new LifeNews.com editorial, doctors are frequently telling women they should consider abortions when confronted with various medical situations affecting their health.

Yet, as he notes, physicians can successfully treat both mother and child without suggesting that the baby be killed to spare a mother's life.

Because Tim Tebow was spared, he's wowed a nation by his athletic skill and, at his younger age, has an opportunity to become the second person to win two Heisman awards.

Wow, they actually ADVISED her to have an abortion? I know doctors offer that up as an option when the possibility of birth defects is real but to advise her to do so? Hm.

Wow!! I can't help but wonder how much better he would have been if his mother wasn't sick? ;O)

Congratulations to Tim Tebow and his family. From all I have read they seem to be the genuine article. Tim was home-schooled, he's worked in his parents' mission, and his sister is a missionary in Bangladesh. Nowhere else but America baby!

I saw him interviewed yesterday with Danny Wuerffel....I was so impressed by their humility and professional demeanor/attitude.

Quite a departure from many other 'athletes' making the news lately.

Tim Tebow is the real deal. As a Florida fan, we heard so much hype about him when he played high school football and it just didn’t seem real or possible. But the young man has far exceeded anyone’s expectations.

He was told from a young age that he was a miracle baby and he’s seemed to have lived his life with that in mind.

Indeed. Makes you wonder what outstanding, world-changing people have been, or will be, aborted?

They thought the medication for the dysentery would cause something like fetal alcohol syndrome. They were wrong but I don't question their judgement.

Freakonomics had a good argument that legalized abortion leads to a reduced crime rate.

When my aunt got pregnant, they found out the kid would have cerebral palsy. They just started prepping her for an abortion immediately, only seeking consent from her after she was feet-up and ready to start counting backward.

Standard Operating Procedure, it turns out, is to presume abortion in the event of any birth defect. Let the mother scream she wants to keep her child as the gas starts kicking in.

Tim Tebow on his involvement with Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA):

#15 Tim Tebow
University of Florida
Height: 6-3 Weight: 235
Year: So. Hometown: Jacksonville, Fla.
Trivia: Earned Freshman All-SEC honors after leading the Gators to a BCS National Championship in 2006.
Impact Verse: Psalm 18

Tim Tebow on…
...FCA: “FCA helps you minister to people. Sometimes if you are sharing with someone and you ask them to go to church with you, they might say no, but if you say you are going to FCA, that could be easier and less threatening for them. Plus, I like not having to wait from Sunday to Sunday for church—I can get that spiritual impact on a Wednesday or a Thursday night.” …what makes a good leader: “Knowing your responsibility and working as hard as you possibly can—harder than anybody else. Let everybody see that. And then know everyone else’s responsibility and encourage them in it.”

…learning humility: “When I was very young and in T-ball, my parents would never let me tell anyone how many home runs I’d hit. At that age, I wanted to be like, ‘I just hit three home runs!’ But I wasn’t allowed to say that until the other person asked me. Then, when I was older, I learned that God blessed me with athletic ability and that He can take it away in an instant. I’m thankful for it. Just because I play football doesn’t make me more special than anyone else.”

…football as a ministry: “I think anything can be a ministry, especially football when you have a platform. You have 100 guys in the locker room with you every day. But more importantly than that, you have 1,000 kids looking up to you and even more people all across the country. You have the opportunity and the platform, and to not take advantage of that would be a big mistake.”

…what he wants others to take away from watching you on the field: “First, that I am not out there playing for myself. I love the game but I am playing for the Lord Jesus Christ. I am going out there, loving the game and giving everything I’ve got, and hopefully they can see through me the love of Christ.”

…how Christ’s example plays a role in how he leads his team: “Christ was the best leader; so you can learn everything about leadership from Him, seeing how He died on the cross and applying it to your life in every aspect. Also, not just in leadership, but how you interact with people. Teammates don’t just see you as someone who is getting on them, but as someone who loves and cares about them on and off the field.”

You never know what potential great minds, great sport stars, doctors, soldiers, leaders, etc., have been aborted. You gotta figure hundreds of thousands of outstanding minds have been aborted in the USA’s 40 million plus aborted children.
