I’d have to listen again, but I don’t think she said “single”, just “not married”. Even so, I think that “single” could cover divorced and widowed. I just inferred that she was not currently married.

Yes, unfortunately, in this PC euphemistic age, “single” often means “just not married right now”. As in divorced, widowed.
