Talk about insensitive...what? are you trying to politicitize on this tragic event?

Just showing the other side how it looks when they do it. It isn't very pretty, is it?

"this has nothing to do with home schooling. The guy was 24 years old. How is home schooling pertinent (other than as a liberal “narrative”)?"

It's very clear from his writings that his upbringing was in an isolated and horrible environmnet. The experience severely damaged him and left him incapable of working things out on his own.

Who exactly is the other side? (Last time I looked, all churches I know have kids educated by their parents...and most of those parents work together with other institutions & agencies & individuals to extend that education, whether it be private teachers & administrators, public school teachers & administrators, church members & leaders, community coaches, etc.)

Are you really saying that parents who enroll their kids in public & private schools don't in various asundry ways teach their kids? Don't these parents teach their kids in a home environment? In an outside environment? In a vacation environment? In a pick-your-choice environment? So doesn't that place these parents on the "side" of home schoolers?

And don't home schoolers often rely on others? Take, for example, the two girls killed at that Colorado church. It sounds to me like they relied upon people at the church and people at Youth With a Mission to help teach their daughters. Aren't these girls, then, on the same "side" as other girls from that church who furthered their education in other private & public settings?

It isn't very pretty, is it?

OK, at least I'm glad you see it for it is that you were implying...an "unpretty" sight.

Which is no more an indictment of home-schooling than is a killer from public school an indictment of public schooling.

“I don’t think the fact this young man was homeschooled created his behavior anymore than the public school the Columbine shooters’ attended created their behavior.”

The Columbine rampage was spawned by relentless bullying, which the government school teachers knew about but ignored.

“As I also pointed out on another thread, in my county homeschooling has become the ‘dumping ground’ for students that the public schools begin to find problematic, either in terms of test scores or behavior.”

That’s one result of “No Child Left Behind”: No child gets left behind except the ones whose low test scores threaten the school’s federal funding.

I supose if a person does something wrong it is based on where they went to school and not thier own personal choices of behavior?

I'm giving you a link to another thread where your fellow homeschooling true believers are not quiet. It's their MO. Any situation where a public school kid is involved is "Another Reason to Homeschool." It's a ping list. That's why the comment was made on this thread.

6 shot after exiting Vegas school bus

This sort of post occurs with every incident involving a public school or public school kid.

This guy sounds like a paranoid schizophrenic to me. The onset of schizophrenia is usually around the age of 18 years or thereabouts (early 20’s). That’s when it hit one of my shirt-tail relatives. When he hit his 40’s he offed himself by asphyxiation (inhaled carbon monoxide from auto gas fumes in a closed garage). This kid fits right into the age group of schizophrenia beginning to take its toll.
