No, but gasoline doesn’t store like it used to (since the Carter administration fiasco).

At $4 a gallon who can afford it.

I know nothing about kerosene but bought K1 in the store today for my kerosene heater. Now, how to put the dang thing together before the ice drops the powerline.

At $4, it was still cheaper than heating a giant old house with natural gas. Now, it looks like the only stuff we can get around where we're at is about $8 a gallon.

I think you’re safe with store-bought K-1. How much a gallon?

You know, I have no idea how much it cost me. I bought a bunch of stuff plus the kerosene. I had to have it because of the pending ice storm so I really didn’t notice the price.

$1300 to fill my propane pig last week. I can only pray for a mild winter but I doubt I’ll get it. I’m looking at between 4 and 6 thousand dollars this winter.

Be sure to let the wick soak for 30 minutes before you fire it up for the first time. What kind did you get - Kerosun?

We’re looking at 0 or thereabouts tomorrow morning. Going to bring up the horses and blanket them. Except for the Canadian mare - she’s a sturdy girl.

On a side note, I just had 2 cords of clean, split and seasoned firewood delivered for $380. That’s enough to heat the house all winter long. I turned our heat pump off at the breaker last Thursday, and have had the woodstove running continuously ever since.

With the great wind storm that hit the coast here last week, there should be plenty of cheap firewood next year as well...

I do wonder what the rich would do if all the Energizer Bunnies out here suddenly pulled an Atlas Shrugged.

It is a Sengoku. I am not even going to attempt to put it together - I’d end up burning down the house!

Last year I went to the city airport and bought Jet-A and it was cheaper than K-1. Jet-A is basically just real clean K-1.

We're experienced with them in the north. We leave a window open a bit for ventilation.
